In a recent livestream, Trippie Redd went off on Kanye West, also known as Ye, as he claimed that he invented rage music. Ye pointed to his 2013 song Blood on the Leaves from the Yeezus album as the origin of the genre. Ye said this track marked the start of the rage sound, a sub-genre of rap music known for its loud beats and high energy.

Trippie Redd disagreed with that statement. He responded strongly on social media, saying Ye did not create rage music. Trippie named himself, XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert as the real creators of the style. He said they helped make rage music what it is today and brought it to a wider audience.

Trippie Redd also made personal comments about Ye. He said that Ye’s ego might have stopped them from working together in the past. He also added that older artists should not try to take credit for things they did not help build.

"N****s need to take they pills… Your old a** ain't invent shit." said Trippie Redd on Ye's comment

Why did Trippie Redd respond to Kanye?

Trippie Redd responded because he felt Ye’s statement was wrong. He believed Ye was taking credit for something that he and other artists had worked hard to build. Trippie said that it was unfair for older artists to rewrite history.

In an interview and several social media posts, Trippie was very direct. He said he respects Ye but does not agree with him on this topic. He also said that Ye’s need to be seen as the best might have kept them from working together in the past. Trippie added that he does not want to let someone else take credit for his or his peers' work.

Trippie highlighted his generation's efforts in creating something new. He said rage music belongs to the artists who built it from the ground up, not those who only used a similar sound once or twice in the past.

Rage music is a style of rap that uses loud, distorted beats and fast tempos. The lyrics often express strong emotions like anger or sadness. The energy in rage music is very high. This sound became popular with younger fans in the late 2010s and early 2020s.

Artists like XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Trippie Redd played a major role in shaping the genre. They started using this sound in mixtapes and albums around 2016–2018. Their songs were shared widely on platforms like SoundCloud and YouTube. This helped the rage sound grow quickly.

These artists used their own life stories and emotions in their music. That made their songs relatable to fans. Over time, their influence helped rage music break into the mainstream. Many other rappers also started using this sound in their own tracks.

Trippie Redd and Kanye West have different views about who invented rage music. Kanye thinks he started it with his 2013 track Blood on the Leaves. Trippie Redd disagrees and says he, along with XXXTentacion, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert, built the genre.

This disagreement has sparked debate among fans and in the music world. It raises a bigger question about how music styles start and who gets to claim ownership. While both sides may have influenced the genre in different ways, the rage music sound as we know it today was shaped most clearly by the new generation of rappers.
