Popular American rapper and singer MGK, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, appeared on the Wednesday, August 6, 2025, episode of ABC News Live and shared a conversation he had with Taylor Swift during the final match between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles at this year’s Super Bowl.

The 35-year-old Lace Up hitmaker revealed that at the start of the game, he believed the Kansas City Chiefs would win the trophy. He was in Travis Kelce’s private suite with Taylor, making plans for a celebratory after-party. However, the Philadelphia Eagles ended up winning the game.

“I was in Travis [Kelce's] suite, and at the beginning of it, Taylor was like, 'Hell yeah, we're gonna come watch you perform,' like it's gonna be crazy tonight,” he said.

He mentioned that towards the end of the game, when it seemed the Chiefs were not going to finish in first place, he had another conversation with the Shake it Off star.

“By the third quarter, dude, I was looking at that score, I went up to Taylor, I was like, 'Y'all aren't coming tonight, huh?' She was like 'I don't think so, man. I'll see if I can get him to get out, but I don't think so.”

MGK has maintained a cordial relationship with Taylor and Travis. In 2024, Swift and Kelce spent time with the rapper and his then-girlfriend, Megan Fox, at a celebratory after-party at Zouk Nightclub at Resorts World Las Vegas.

In addition to sharing his conversation with pop icon Taylor Swift, MGK also spoke about his upcoming album, “ost Americana. ABC News’ Ashan Singh welcomed the rapper to the show and brought up the topic of the rapper's released album.

“It's a big week for you. You got MGK day coming up. You got your new record, ‘Lost Americana’, coming out. Tell me a little bit about this record and the sound. I mean, even listening to the trailer, it's sort of about reinventing this idea of the American dream. You keep pushing your sound forward. Tell me a little bit about this record.”

The Texas-born rapper with six albums replied that Lost Americana was more about exploration than genre.

“It represents exploration to me, which I think is something that is cool about the country that we’re in. I was less focused on genre, even though I know that is a conversation that encompasses my ethos as MGK,” he said. “But it was more like, ‘Hey, I'm going to do what I enjoy, but I'm going to do it to a level that has more depth.”

Lost Americana is MGK’s upcoming seventh studio album. It is set to feature thirteen tracks, including Outlaw Venture, Cliche, Don't Wait Run Fast, Goddamn, Vampire Diaries, and Miss Sunshine. The album was produced by BazeXX, Colson Baker, Nick Long, No Love for the Middle Child, SlimXX, and Travis Barker.

Lost Americana will be released on Friday, August 8, 2025.
