Dua Lipa’s Radical Optimism tour stop at London’s Wembley Stadium featured a major surprise for fans on Friday night — a live appearance by Jamiroquai.
Reflecting on her career before a sold-out crowd, the pop star told concertgoers:
“It is 10 years since our first ever London show to about 350 people. And I just dreamt of a night like this where I get to be in front of 70,000 people.”
Ahead of the unexpected moment, she shared her appreciation for Jamiroquai’s influence on British music:
“I wanted to bring out an artist who really inspired me, someone who has been a trailblazer for British music and paved the way.”
Dua continued:
“The one of one, the only, give it up as loud as you f—king can, give it up for Jamiroquai!”
Wearing one of his signature hats, Jamiroquai’s frontman Jay Kay took the stage and joined the "Levitating" singer and her band for a high-energy performance of the group’s 1996 hit “Virtual Insanity.” The massive crowd at Wembley erupted in response.
The moment fits into a trend for Dua, who has regularly paid tribute to local artists throughout her tour.
In New Zealand and Australia, she covered songs by Kylie Minogue, AC/DC, and Lorde, while also collaborating live with Tame Impala and Troye Sivan. In Madrid, she performed a rendition of "Hero," originally by Enrique Iglesias.
While such tributes have been less common in Europe, this Wembley appearance by Jamiroquai shows she’s still keeping her setlists full of surprises.
