On June 16, 2025, BTS' Jungkook’s tattoo artist, POLYC, took to his Instagram to talk about the idol’s tattoo journey. Golden maknae has the maximum tattoos among other group members.

Therefore, POLYC wrote a note shared on his story to express his thoughts about the SEVEN singer’s tattoo journey and revealed that the duo still continues with his pending tattoos following Jungkook’s military discharge.

To begin with his note, POLYC first wrote about how self-conscious BTS' Jungkook was for his tattoos.

“When we first met, he felt very self-conscious about his tattoos and was even too embarrassed to wear short sleeves during the summer. So, our shared goal became what we called the "Short-Sleeve in Summer Project."” POLYC wrote.

The artist further mentioned some of his and Jungkook’s conversation about his position of influence and his mindfulness about his tattoos in that regard.

“Over time, he had gotten several tattoos on impulse. I told him: "You're now in a position of great influence. I hope you'll be more thoughtful about future tattoos, as many young people look up to you and may follow your choices.",” POLYC added.

POLYC said that choosing tattoos for BTS' Jungkook was complex

The artist went on to write about the struggles he and BTS’ Jungkook had in respect of picking an appropriate tattoo for him. He referred to this process of looking for meaningful tattoos as ‘complex.’

“Reviving his previous tattoos was far from easy. The actual damage was much more severe than what appeared in photos, and there were significant limitations in terms of what subjects could be used for the cover-up. It was a complex process-maintaining meaningful design while covering the old tattoos-and the pressure even led me to experience stress-related hair loss.”

He said that he suggested BTS' Jungkook to go for more vibrant and unique designs instead of the commonly used gray and black combination. POLYC stated that Jungkook agreed to his suggestion and opted for more colorful designs.

The tattoo artist also confessed that he felt a sense of pressure and responsibility to give his best for BTS' Jungkook.

“Some people may assume I'm using the fact that | tattooed JK as a marketing tool or simply envy the opportunity. But in truth, I felt a tremendous sense of pressure and responsibility to do my absolute best.,” POLYC stated.

The duo completed about 70% of their tattoo design before BTS’ Jungkook’s enlistment, and they still continued the process as the idol’s busy schedule allowed.

POLYC stated that throughout this particular journey, he kept visualizing BTS' Jungkook on stage with the tattoos he designed, always thinking about what would work for him best.

He also stated that he put his 13 years of expertise, abilities, and emotions into creating BTS' Jungkook's tattoos.

“But l've been doing this for 13 years, and I poured everything had-my skill, my experience, and my heart-into this project.,” the artist expressed.

POLYC concluded by saying that he received numerous inquiries about Golden maknae’s new tattoo.
