Avril Lavigne has joined the chorus of well-wishers celebrating Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement. The pop-punk star reshared the announcement online with a short but heartfelt note:

“Aww huge congratulations to @taylorswift13 and @tkelce.”

In her Instagram Story, Lavigne also chose Swift's "So High School," a track off her hit 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.

Avril Lavigne and Taylor Swift go a long way back. In 2022, the pop punk icon revealed that she received a stunning bouquet from the "forthnight" hitmaker in honor of her new album Love Sux. The flowers arrived with a handwritten note that Lavigne proudly shared. It said:

“Avril, Been dancing around my kitchen to your fabulous new album!! It’s AMAZING, like you.”

Taylor Swift signed off with:

“Your forever fan, Taylor.”

Avril Lavigne couldn’t hide her appreciation. Later, when she chatted with the People Every Day podcast, she gushed about the pop star, saying:

“She said she’s, like, loving the songs and listening to them, and, I mean, she’s amazing."

She went on:

“That meant so much to me. She’s an incredible artist and songwriter, she’s such a sweet person and has accomplished so much.”

The two artists' bond also carries a little pop culture history.

Years back, Taylor Swift accidentally drew comparisons between herself and the "I'm With You" songstress after liking a Tumblr post, which sparked chatter among fans.

Avril Lavigne then responded on Twitter at the time, reminding followers to keep things optimistic:

“We all love our fans. So let’s keep it all about the love and stay positive.”

There was no hint of tension as the two icons also joined forces onstage in 2015 during Swift’s 1989 tour, performing Lavigne’s hit “Complicated.”

That duet solidified a bond that — judging by Avril Lavigne's warm congratulatory message to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement — remains strong years later.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are engaged

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made the big reveal of their engagement on Tuesday, Aug. 26, in a joint Instagram post that featured several photos from a romantic, flower-filled proposal.

One shot shows the Kansas City Chiefs tight end down on one knee as Swift holds his face, while others capture the pair embracing beneath a trellis of pink and white blooms.

Taylor Swift captioned the post:

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Travis Kelce designed the ring himself, working with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The custom piece features an Old Mine brilliant cut stone, which Swift displayed proudly in the engagement photos.

The milestone comes amid a busy season for the pop star. Earlier this month, Taylor Swift announced her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, set for release in October.

The couple’s romance first sparked in July 2023 after Travis Kelce attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium, later admitting on his podcast that he had unsuccessfully tried to give her a bracelet with his number.

By the time Swift made her first appearance at a Chiefs game that September, cheering from Kelce’s suite, the two were already officially together, which she brought up during herTime Person of the Year interview.

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
