The MTV VMAs event is expecting some big performances, and now fans are speculating that BLACKPINK's Rosé and Jennie will also grace the stage. The VMAs show is scheduled to air on September 7, and the second list of performers was unveiled by MTV on August 26.

Many big performers like Doja Cat, Post Malone, and Sabrina Carpenter will rock this year's stage. However, some other names are yet to be unveiled by MTV. On August 28, the official account of the MTV VMAs commented on Jennie and Rosé's X account; this stirred a discussion about their possible performance at the upcoming show.

As more performers are yet to be revealed, netizens are speculating a performance by two of BLACKPINK's members.

"I better see the pinks performing as soloist and/or as a group 😆," a netizen reacted.

MTV VMAs comments on Rosé and Jennie's page drew mixed reactions from fans

Notably, all four members of BLACKPINK are nominated for VMAs in the best K-pop category for their solo tracks. The latest comment from the MTV VMAs on two members' accounts stirred excitement among fans for their performance on the main stage.

"Why would the greatest Kpop group ever not be represented at the VMAs lol of course they’ll be there," a fan commented.
"Rosé is a given, she had one of the biggest hits this year and I hope Jennie performs with Doechii, I love that song," a user added.
"Like Jennie and APT clearing," another user expressed.

However, some netizens express their lack of excitement and claim that voting in the MTV awards is pointless because only the performers win. Another user called the commenting by MTV VMAs only a promotional strategy.

"Who ever is performing is winning. People who are voting are stupid. No vote is counted. It’s a Performance award," a netizen commented.
"If they sing there, voting on their website is pointless. The award is known to be an attendance prize, and the rules allow sponsors to change the winner," an internet user wrote.
"Nothing, vma always do this, they commented on blackpink accounts previous years, but they still didn't attend the show, they just want more promo in next 10 days," a user added.

The 2025 MTV VMAs will commence live from UBS Arena in New York on September 7 on CBS and MTV. LL Cool J will be hosting this year's event. The event will also be available to stream on Paramount+. Here is the list of performers unveiled so far:

  • Sabrina Carpenter

  • Sombr
  • Alex Warren
  • J Balvin with DJ Snake
  • Busta Rhymes
  • Doja Cat
  • Jelly Roll
  • Post Malone
