One nomination would’ve been exciting enough, but earning eight at the 2025 MTV VMAs left BLACKPINK’s Rosé completely stunned.
Shortly after the nominations were revealed on August 5, the singer took to her Instagram Stories to share her disbelief with fans:
“So I’ve just heard that I’ve received eight VMA nominations. I am beyond shocked and I just don’t know what to say. I’m absolutely speechless! This is a crazy day! Whoa! It’s really, really wild! What’s happening?!”
In another Story, the BLACKPINK member also posted the list of her VMA nominations, with the text on the side:
“waaaahhh???!”

Rosé is nominated in eight categories at the 2025 MTV VMAs: Song of the Year, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Visual Effects — all for her hit single APT. with Bruno Mars, released last October.
The songstress also scored a nomination for Best K-pop with toxic till the end, a track off her solo debut album Rosie.

BLINKs — BLACKPINK's devoted fans — erupted on social media with praise for Rosé as soon as the 2025 MTV VMAs announced the nominations.
"A historic moment for ROSÉ! Breaking records and setting new standards—this is a huge win not just for her, but for K-Pop as a whole. Truly well-deserved," one fan wrote on X (Twitter).
"Guys, please let's vote massively, this is important, PLEASE LET'S ALL VOTE AND GIVE ROSÉ WHAT SHE DESERVES," another encouraged their fellow BLINKs.
"Pure talent right here," an internet user said.
"Heard her for the first time in the movie's soundtrack (PACHINKO). Been in love since then," a fan commented.
"Rose collecting nominations like it’s Pokémon cards," another quipped.
"Congratulations to ROSÉ for setting a new record with 8 VMAs nominations, including Video of the Year! An incredible achievement for an unstoppable K-pop star!" A fan added.
"Well deserved for my girl, I hope she is the most awarded," an online user tweeted.

Meanwhile, this is the first time for the K-pop star to be nominated as a solo artist, and she trails not so far behind her APT collaborator Bruno Mars, who clinched 11 nominations.
Her bandmates also garnered VMA nominations, with Lisa's Born Again (featuring Doja Cat and RAYE), Jennie’s like JENNIE, and Jisoo’s earthquake all vying for the Best K-pop trophy.
Lady Gaga leads with 12 nominations, while Kendrick Lamar snagged 10. Both The Weeknd and Ariana Grande received 7 nominations each. Sabrina Carpenter also obtained 8.
The 2025 MTV VMAs will broadcast on September 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
