Ju Haknyeon, who used to be a member of the K‑pop group THE BOYZ, posted on Instagram on June 20, 2025, regarding the controversies surrounding him. He said he plans to go to court and that he will file both civil and criminal cases. He stated that he never left THE BOYZ and never agreed to end his contract, and that some news stories were wrong and hurt him. He asked anyone claiming wrongdoing to show proof and strongly denied any illegal action.
His agency, One Hundred Label, said they ended his contract and removed him on June 18, 2025. They stated this was to protect the group and because they could no longer trust him. Just two days earlier, on June 16, they had said he would take a break for personal reasons.
What Ju Haknyeon said in his post?
In his Instagram message, Ju Haknyeon made several clear points. He said he did not do anything illegal and that he wants to sue anyone who writes false articles about him. He said he never agreed to leave THE BOYZ or end his contract. He also said:
"The agency demanded compensation of over ₩200 million KRW (about $145,000 USD) and told me to leave the company, but I have never accepted it. Regardless, they announced to the press that the termination was confirmed."
He said the agency sent official letters claiming he broke their rules, but according to him, he did not do anything wrong and the agency did not follow the contract rules either. As per his Instagram message, he felt scared but decided not to stay quiet. He said if people stay quiet when wrong things happen, then wrong things will just keep happening. He waited quietly for the truth to come out, but now he will no longer stay silent.
"I have silently endured this so far, believing the truth will come out. However, when someone attempts to bury people under the pretext of something that didn’t happen, I can no longer remain silent."
Agency actions, police report, and public response
On June 16, One Hundred Label announced Ju Haknyeon would take a break due to personal reasons. They apologized for the sudden news and asked for fans’ understanding. They did not share more information about what was happening. Then, on June 18, photos spread online showing Ju Haknyeon with Kirara Asuka at a hotel in Tokyo on May 30. These photos sparked rumors and backlash from fans. Soon after, the agency said they had lost trust in him. They ended his contract and removed him from THE BOYZ.
As per reports by News Bytes, on June 19, a complaint was filed at the Gangnam Police Station. The complaint claimed Ju Haknyeon may have broken the law on prostitution and sexual trafficking. The police are now investigating under South Korea’s Act on the Punishment of Arranging Sexual Traffic, Article 4. The police asked people to come forward with any proof.
THE BOYZ members also reacted. They shared apologies to fans and said they are sorry for what happened. They said they will work hard and move ahead. Fans are now divided — some are sad or angry, while others still support Ju Haknyeon and say people must not jump to conclusions. The case is drawing attention. It is also part of a larger wave of scandals hitting K‑pop stars. Another group member from NCT has also faced serious accusations recently.
Ju Haknyeon’s message shows he wants to be honest. He says he met someone during his private time, but that doesn’t mean he did anything illegal. He also says he will fight for his name and career, as he wants his truth to be heard.
