Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour took an unexpected turn today with the appearance of none other than Miley Cyrus. The two powerhouses joined forces to set the stage alight in France by performing II Most Wanted, which is a Grammy-winning duet from Beyoncé’s country-inspired album, Cowboy Carter.

Beyoncé is currently in France as part of her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour, and rumors had been doing the rounds that Miley would also appear on stage after she was spotted near the arena before the commencement of the show. Nonetheless, the 80,000-strong crowd erupted in delight when the pop star made her way to the stage upon Beyoncé's invitation. The two then proceeded to deliver a performance for the ages.

The story behind Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus' II Most Wanted

II Most Wanted was released back in 2024 as part of Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter album, and ended up being a huge hit with the listeners. It even went on to win a Grammy for the best country duo/group performance. The track was co-written by the pop divas together in collaboration with Ryan Tedder and Michael Pollack.

In an interview with W Magazine, Miley Cyrus opened up about the circumstances under which the song came to be:

"I wrote that song, like, two and a half years ago. My mom would always go, ‘I love that song so much.’ So when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship. I told her, ‘We don’t have to get country; we are country. We’ve been country. I said, ‘You know, between you being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song.’ Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true."

Miley Cyrus has often shared her admiration for Beyoncé, and the great respect that she has for her is rather noticeable in the words that she says in the interviews. While the two have always shared a good relationship with each other, their paths had seldom collided before their collaboration for II Most Wanted. Cyrus had earlier collaborated with Beyoncé and a number of other performers in the 2008 charity song Just Stand Up!

The appearance of Miley Cyrus in Beyoncé's show was unpredictable and brought more hype to the event, and this is something that will linger long in the memories of those who were present.

Today's concert was part of a three-night run, and other scheduled appearances that Beyoncé is set to make at the Stade de France arena are on June 21 and 22. Till the time the tour wraps up, fans will be keeping an eye out for more unexpected collaborations.
