Pop star Sabrina Carpenter has announced her new studio album, Man's Best Friend, set to drop on August 29, 2025. She shared the news on Instagram on Wednesday, June 11, showing off the eye-catching cover art, spilling the beans on the lead single, and who she's working with on production.

This announcement comes hot on the heels of Carpenter's last album, Short n' Sweet, which was a game-changer for her career. That album churned out several hit singles, like "Espresso" and "Please Please Please," and landed her at the top spot on the Billboard 200.

Man's Best Friend will have 12 songs, as shown on its Spotify countdown page. Its first single, "Manchild," has already gained popularity since it came out. The song mixes pop with light country sounds and talks about being immature and bad with feelings in relationships.

Carpenter wrote the song with her usual partners Jack Antonoff and Amy Allen, who also helped with her last album. Antonoff told Rolling Stone about Sabrina Carpenter’s new album:

“I find a lot of this album to be some of the most honest work I’ve ever heard. There’s something really celebratory about it, but most of the lyrical content is about disappointment in relationships and all the different shapes it takes. I think it’s a celebration of those who let you down.”

Bold Imagery and Rising Anticipation Surround Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend

The album cover shows Sabrina Carpenter in a black mini dress and stilettos, positioned on her hands and knees. A man, whose face remains hidden, holds a handful of her hair. This imagery has sparked conversations online because of its bold and thought-provoking symbolism, which connects to the daring themes in the album’s lyrics.

Sabrina Carpenter shared the announcement with a brief caption:

“My new album, Man’s Best Friend is out on August 29, 2025. i can’t wait for it to be yours x Pre-order now.”

Fans expect this album to showcase more of the sonic and thematic evolution seen in her latest music. It continues to cement her position in today’s pop music world.

Pre-orders have started, and excitement around the single “Manchild” is growing. Man’s Best Friend looks ready to become one of summer’s most talked-about pop albums. People expect the album to provide insight into Carpenter’s changing style and meaningful lyrics, strengthening her role as a key figure in modern pop.

Sabrina Carpenter's Man’s Best Friend sparked major backlash as the cover shows her on her knees while a man, a pose many have criticized as demeaning. Critics say the image, combined with the album’s title, suggests the man is treating her like a dog, leading to widespread controversy online.
