KATSEYE's Sophia isn't just hitting notes onstage, but she is also using her influence to amplify voices in the streets.
On Sept. 22, Sophia Laforteza, leader of the K-pop girl group KATSEYE, took to social media to express her support for her fellow Filipinos who joined the protest rallies against corruption.
"My heart is with my people. We all deserve a future built on truth, integrity, and hope. Para sa ating bansa, at para sa sambayanang Pilipino (For our country and for the Filipino people), we must always strive for what is just and fair."
In her lengthy post, Sophia voiced out her and her fellow countrymen's dream of a country without corruption.
"We dream of a Philippines free from corruption, where accountability and compassion guide us forward."
The "Gnarly" hitmaker added:
“The voice of the Filipino people is powerful and unshakable. Even if I cannot be present in today’s rallies, I am listening, I am aware, and I stand with you."
On Sept. 21, anti-corruption rallies were held across major cities and provinces in the Philippines, amid the advent of the Flood Control Projects controversy, where lawmakers and contractors allegedly pocketed billions of dollars that were supposedly allocated for flood prevention systems, drainage, and river dikes.

Following Sophia's post, the group's fans, called EYEKONs, flocked to social media with high praise for the KATSEYE leader.
"She’s so much connected to her people," a fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
"I was waiting for this, i knew she'd come through. Indeed the Philippine's Princess!!" another commented.
"MOMMY SOPHIA I KNEW I CAN TRUST U," one posted.
"It's good she is taking a stand for her people," an online user tweeted.

Sophia Laforteza is a Filipina singer and the appointed leader of the global girl group KATSEYE.
Born on December 31, 2002, the "Gabriela" songstress is the daughter of Carla Guevarra-Laforteza, a well-known musical theater actress, and Godfrey Laforteza III, a dancer turned professional chef.
Meanwhile, KATSEYE is set to perform at Coachella in 2026.
