The Donald Trump and Bruce Springsteen feud has taken another twist, with musician Neil Young also throwing his weight behind his colleague. Donald Trump’s public life has often been punctuated by high-profile feuds with celebrities, even during the time he has been in office. The latest feud has seen the POTUS being involved in a public spat with Bruce Springsteen over the musician's remarks at one of his Manchester concerts, in which he said:

"The mighty E Street Band is here tonight to call upon the righteous power of art, of music, of rock and roll in dangerous times. In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration. Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices against authoritarianism and let freedom ring!"

The feud has escalated since then, as Donald Trump came up with a fierce response of his own by insulting Bruce Springsteen for his music and political views. Donald Trump's statements, however, have been met with stiff resistance from the music industry and have emboldened many artists to voice their support for Bruce Springsteen. The list includes prominent artists such as Eddie Vedder and Robert Plant, amongst others.

Even The American Federation of Musicians has given its verbal backing to Springsteen in his beef with Donald Trump. Neil Young has had his fair share of issues with Donald Trump in the past as well, and he used the opportunity to speak out against him while launching a passionate defense of Bruce Springsteen and Taylor Swift, who was also caught in the crosshairs of one of his statements. While addressing Trump using his website as the platform, Neil Young wrote:

"What are you worryin’ about man? Bruce and thousands of musicians think you are ruining America. You worry about that instead of the dyin’ kids in Gaza. That’s your problem. I am not scared of you. Neither are the rest of us. You shut down FEMA when we needed it most. That’s your problem Trump. STOP THINKING ABOUT WHAT ROCKERS ARE SAYING. Think about saving America from the mess you made."

He then went on to continue:

"Taylor Swift is right. So is Bruce. You know how I feel. You are more worried about yourself than AMERICA. Wake up Trump! ! Remember what the White House is? 86/47? ? ? That's what you think about? You are forgetting your real job. You work for us. Wake up Republicans! This guy is out of control. We need a real president."

Neil Young and his history of criticism of Donald Trump

This wasn't the first time Neil Young has taken a political stand against Donald Trump; he has also spoken out against him in the past. Young has long used his platform to address societal and political issues in his music, having also previously taken shots at one of Trump's closest aides, Elon Musk. In one of his posts previously, the artist mentioned:

"When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket. If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me."

He then went on to add:

"That’s right folks, if you say anything bad about Trump or his administration, you may be barred from re-entering USA. If you are Canadian. If you are a dual citizen like me, who knows? We’ll all find that out together. If the fact that I think Donald Trump is the worst president in the history of our great country could stop me from coming back, what does that say for Freedom? I love America and its people and its music and its culture. … Remember Freedom of Speech?"

Bruce Springsteen's and Donald Trump's public arguments have escalated into a full-blown spectacle, with multiple artists coming out to express their opinions. Neil Young's alignment with his fellow colleagues goes on to show the artistic solidarity that is prevalent in the music industry. At the same time, it also points towards the exchange being a part of the larger pattern of tension between the entertainment industry and Trump.
