Ricky Hampton, popularly referred to by his rapper name, Finesse2tymes, is back in jail for breaking his supervised release conditions. This time, according to reports by TMZ, Carl A. Moore, who is Hampton's lawyer, stated that the rapper turned himself in. Hampton is currently in federal custody and jailed for making terroristic threats and failing two drug tests in 2022 and 2024.
According to TMZ, an arrest warrant was issued because of a situation back in 2024 with King's guardian. King, a child star, was Finesse2tymes' mentee. The incident that resulted in Hampton violating his supervised release conditions referred to the time when he showed King's guardian a gun under his shirt. He also said that he would:
"up that fire," meaning he would be pointing the gun.
The specific phrase is a Memphis slang for those who are unfamiliar.
The guardian reported this incident to the police because she feared the rapper might actually carry out the threat. TMZ had direct contact with Finesse's lawyer a few months ago in January. This is what the attorney had to say:
"...confident this matter will be resolved justly once the state of Texas applies the applicable law to the facts," Carl A. Moore stated.
Finesse2tymes' legal issues history
This was not Finesse2tymes' first or second time dealing with the authorities. Back in 2010, the rapper was found guilty in Tennessee on two counts of aggravated robbery. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison but served only 6, and was released in 2016.
A year after he was released, while Hampton was performing in Little Rock, Arkansas, on July 1, 2017, a shooting occurred. The next day, U.S Marshals took him into custody, but for another shooting that had happened a month before (June 25, 2017). Prosecutors believed that Hampton had some connection to the shooting that happened in a nightclub in Forrest City, Arkansas.
To this, he pleaded guilty to being a felon possessing a firearm and was sentenced to 5 years in jail in December 2018. He was released in 2022. A year later, he was issued with an arrest warrant for not returning an Enterprise rental car he was driving. However, the charges were dropped a month later.
Hampton's latest tussle with the law includes the three violations mentioned above.
Ever since he was released from prison on supervised release, Finesse2tymes has not put out any new music or albums. The rapper has a hearing scheduled for May 8, 2025.
