“That's definitely rigged”: Fans disappointed as BTS' j-hope received no nominations in MTV VMAs 2025

On August 5, 2025, MTV VMAs unveiled its nominees list, which disappointed BTS' j-hope’s fans as he got no nominations despite releasing three chart-topping tracks in 2025. Jimin from BTS earned his first nomination at MTV VMAs in 2025 with his solo track WHO.

Some demanded explanation from MTV VMAs for not nominating BTS' j-hope given that he has bigger hits than others on the list, while others labeled the awards as rigged.

While some called it unfair to overlook BTS' j-hope, others dubbed VMAs as a big scam. A few other angry fans even labeled them as paid nominations.

“It’s truly unfair to overlook an K-pop artist who delivered such massive impact and success this year,” another fan stated.

“This list feels like a big scam like wdym hobi wasn't nominated,” commented an admirer.

“Must be paid nominations there's no meaning anymore,” wrote another fan.

“No but put him atleast in best choreo category? Mona lisa? Killin' it girl? Do we really have to make whole graphics summing up j-hope's achievements this year with 3 back to back hits? @MTV @vmas you're never beating the corrupt alleagtions sorry,” an admirer stated.

BTS' Jimin has been nominated in the 'Best K-pop' category, with BLACKPINK members Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa, for their individual solo works. K-pop groups, which include Aespa and Stray Kids, were also included on the VMAs 2025 contenders list.
