Michael Tait’s accusers are speaking out again and calling for others to join them. This comes two months after abuse allegations against the Contemporary Christian Music figure sent shockwaves through the faith-based music industry.
In an exclusive tell-all with People, Randall Crawford confessed that his own alleged encounter with Michael Tait in 2000 left lasting damage.
“Why does Michael do what he does? Because Michael thought he was invincible. It was so traumatic. It did something to me spiritually, mentally and physically.”
Crawford continued:
“Look at the trail of destruction that he’s left behind. I have to speak up. I have kids that are the age of some of these victims. This is for the future generation. This is for those that are scared to speak up. I want more victims to come forward. I want Michael to find true repentance and remorse and feel terrible and not deny what he’s done to me.”

He hopes more artists will speak up against abuse in the Christian music industry. He also pointed to Paramore’s Hayley Williams, who in June said she believes the CCM world has enabled predators and should “crumble.”
“This is a problem. I want justice. I don’t want this to happen to another kid. I’ve seen what it does. It destroyed my career. I didn’t deserve this, what he did to me.”
He went on:
“I’ve held this shame for many years, but I have nothing to be ashamed of.”
Meanwhile, Shawn Davis, who alleges the former Newsboys singer drugged and raped him in 2003, told the outlet that he is helping build a legal case against Michael Tait.
Davis believes “more than 1,000” people may share similar experiences and confirmed that Brentwood Police in Tennessee are actively investigating.
“We’re trying to head this and do everything we can in our power to take him down. Ultimately, in the end, the goal is to see him go to prison. We need every single victim possible to come forward.”
He added:
“They deserve to know that they’re not the only ones, and they deserve to tell their story.”
Michael Tait breaks silence on allegations: “I am ashamed of my life choices and actions”
Michael Tait has previously admitted to “reckless and destructive behavior” in a lengthy Instagram post.
Titled “My Confession, Michael Tait, June 10, 2025,” Tait also claimed substance abuse and unwanted sexual contact, calling his actions “sin” in his post.
“Recent reports of my reckless and destructive behavior, including drug and alcohol abuse and sexual activity are sadly, largely true. For some two decades, I used and abused cocaine, consumed far too much alcohol and, at times, touched men in an unwanted sensual way.”
He further stated:
“I am ashamed of my life choices and actions, and make no excuses for them. I will simply call it what God calls it– sin. I don’t blame anyone or anything but myself. While I might dispute certain details in the accusations against me, I do not dispute the substance of them.”
Tait also noted that since stepping down from the Newsboys in January, he is now living “clean and sober,” although he admits he still has “lots of hard work ahead of me.”
