Rap icon Snoop Dogg has officially released a music video for Last Dance With Mary Jane, on April 20, 2025, commemorating 4/20 (a date associated with marijuana).

The single features contributions from country-rap artist Jelly Roll and the late Tom Petty. The record is part of Snoop Dogg’s 2024 album Missionary. It is also his full-length reunion with Dr. Dre.

Dave Meyers directed the music video for Last Dance With Mary Jane. A perfect blend of Dave Meyers and Snoop Dogg, the music video is a psychedelic spectacle: a chaotic dream sequence with bizarre scenes, animated cameos, and a narrative arc that gives a nod to the hip-hop scene.

Snoop plays a version of himself who’s told by his doctor to give up weed. He then goes on a journey through memory, marijuana fields, and more. Take a look at the music video:

Fan reactions to Snoop Dogg's 'Last Dance With Mary Jane' MV

Netizens were quick to gather in the comment section of the YouTube video as they shared their thoughts on the newly dropped MV. Below are some of them:

"I used to listen to Snoop Dogg when I was 63, and now I'm 17. This will forever be a classic", declared a fan.
"Damn this is one of the most trippiest music videos that I have ever seen. Dr. Dre is da man, period. He knows how to bring life, a different energy into an already classic tune, without damaging it. (Remember this from one of his older studio sessions where he did the same, messing with the drums of a Marvin Gaye track) And paying homage to other legends also. What a track this is. Bravo", penned another.
"This is my favorite song on the album. Should have been the second single. Shout out to the late Tom Petty!" shared a third.

Others also chimed in:

"This man smoked weed like full western earth taken together and he feels like he has 9 lifes , and he STILL do music, thats really king of hip hop. Happy Easter guys", commented a netizen.
"I had my last dance with Mary Jane after fifty-four years January 28th 2024! I have emphysema (leading cause, smoking cannabis) which will certainly shorten my lifespan. Quit edibles May 31 2024, I was consuming in excess of 1,000 mg of THC per day and it seemed every two weeks or so I would have a day where I just slept for 20 hours or more, got tired of that and have been THC free ever since and don't miss it at all!", expressed another.

The single borrows from Tom Petty's 1993 hit Mary Jane's Last Dance, with Petty's vocals and harmonica being played through the song.
