The Oasis reunion tour hasn’t even taken off yet, and it’s already entangled in drama — and not the kind that ends in "Champagne Supernova." With only two months left before Liam and Noel Gallagher hit the stage together again, the rumor mill is working overtime. But Liam isn’t having any of it.
A report from The Sun stirred the pot over the weekend, alleging that Oasis planned to cut their 1995 banger "Hello" from their setlist due to its connection to the disgraced rock star Gary Glitter.
For context, the song opens their iconic sophomore album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? and includes a nod to Glitter’s "Hello, Hello, I’m Back Again," a 1973 release that earned him a co-writing credit on the popular Oasis track. The Sun claimed:
“The lyrics of the song would obviously have been a good fit for the reunion tour but the band have decided to leave it in the past. It would be inappropriate to play it given its connotations to Glitter and his convictions.”
Glitter, who is serving his time in a U.K. prison for violating parole terms, was convicted of child s**ual abuse in 2006, making his work — or any reference to it — extremely controversial.
But Liam wasted no time addressing it. On Monday, May 5, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to set the record straight.
On the app, a fan asked if the song really wasn’t going to make the cut, but the Oasis frontman assured:
“We’ll be playing HELLO trust me.”
He also debunked the rumor of a leaked setlist and quashed speculations that his solo tracks would be excluded.
Liam Gallagher seemingly calls out rumors he and Liam will be separated backstage: “After party’s are for w**kers”
Meanwhile, this wasn’t the only bit of fan service Liam served up on social media recently.
Another Sun article reported that the Gallagher brothers would have separate dressing rooms and tightly restricted afterparties to keep their camps apart. As the news made the rounds on the web, Liam reacted in his classic banter-filled fashion.
"After party’s are for wankers. I’m getting straight of after the gigs get my beauty sleep this level of sexiness doesn’t happen by staying up talking bollox to bellends."
Oasis will kick off their long-awaited tour on July 4 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, with dates across Ireland and the U.K., then to Latin America, North America, Asia, and Australasia.
