Coldplay are all set to kick off the second leg of their Music of the Spheres world tour with two sold-out nights in Hull, UK. The shows will debut their run, which is set to end with a ten-night residency at Wembley Stadium. Before taking to the stage, frontman Chris Martin made headlines by admitting in the official tour program that he still looks to other artists for inspiration. He also singled out Charli XCX as one of the performers who are currently pushing the creative "bar."

Martin said that while Coldplay has been touring the globe for more than two decades, he continues to be a fan first,

"I am still such a music fan and I'm always looking at other artists. Like, Pulp playing Common People at Glastonbury this year was the best thing I have ever seen. There are always other acts like them resetting the bar for me in terms of what music can do in making you feel alive and connected."

He added,

"So, for example, if I see Charli XCX doing Von dutch and I think, 'This is the best thing I have ever seen', I'm also like 'OK, right, what are we going to do next?'."

The comments seemingly depict the way Coldplay approaches their live shows by looking outward to refresh their stagecraft and more. Martin's admiration for Charli XCX might underline the influences that are shaping Coldplay's latest tour.

Coldplay's 2025 UK run

The Hull concerts will be held at Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium. The upcoming UK shows are part of Coldplay's global Music of the Spheres tour, which began in March 2022. It has reportedly become the most-attended concert tour of all time, surpassing Taylor Swift's Eras Tour.

Notably, Martin was recently spotted playing an unannounced hour-long set at The Puzzle Hall Inn, a pub in Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire. He played piano and guitar in the beer garden and covered Elton John's Rocket Man and more.
