Drake has officially slid into his Iceman arc. The rapper dropped a surprise single, “What Did I Miss,” on July 5 following a moody livestream event through Toronto, where he cruised behind a branded ice truck and previewed new music.

The release marks the start of his next album cycle, and possibly his most personal chapter yet. On the track, he raps:

“It’s love for my brothers and death to a traitor, let’s go.”

This hints at the emotional weight of the project and alludes to the recent fallout from his clout-heavy feud with Kendrick Lamar.

Release date

While the rapper hasn’t revealed when Iceman will drop, fans are speculating it may land during his $ome $pecial $hows 4 U European tour, which kicks off July 20.

Another possible date is early August when he typically hosts OVO Fest. Or his signature month, which is October.

He also teased its imminent arrival with a simple message during the stream:

“Iceman 2025.”

That’s all fans have to go on for now.

Collaborators

Drake hasn’t confirmed any guests in his forthcoming release, but fans online are already predicting he will go solo following the fallout from the Kendrick Lamar rift, where several former collaborators seemingly turned on him.

That said, Playboi Carti was featured in a leaked song previewed by DJ Swamp Izzo, and 21 Savage has been a consistent supporter. So, featuring artists and appearances can’t be ruled out just yet.

Still, Drake’s inner circle remains solid

Producers like OZ, Conductor Williams, and Tay Keith will potentially contribute, and fans can expect longtime collaborators like Boi-1da and Noah “40” Shebib to be involved.

“Supermax”: A glimpse

During his recent livestream, Drake previewed a second track, “Supermax,” where he sounds more self-aware than ever. He raps:

“It’s still heartbreak Drake, but I glued it together.”

The song includes a vulnerable mention of TNT’s Taylor Rooks, with Drake quoting a conversation they had over drinks where she reportedly told him:

“Not everyone can handle this pressure and, in the city, you’re the national treasure.”

Rooks later reposted the clip to her Instagram Story, suggesting that the lyrics were legit.

Why “Iceman”?

Drake has been teasing the Iceman title for months — from icy rings to comic book references and George Gervin's Instagram posts. He has also referenced Marvel’s Iceman, a character known for his fierce loyalty.

But there may also be a more literal influence for the “God’s Plan” hitmaker.

He partnered with a Toronto-based ice packaging company, also called Iceman, during the live stream, wearing their merch and following their branded truck through the city.

Jake Silva, who works at the company, told CP24:

“During the actual live-stream, it was pretty crazy… People from all over North America started calling us.”

As Drake’s Iceman era begins, the rapper seems ready to rewrite his post-feud narrative with emotional clarity, ice-cold focus, and sharp precision.
