Sabrina Carpenter announces the release date of her new song. The song is set to release on 5th June, on Thursday at 8 pm ET.
Sabrina Carpenter is back to save the summer with a new single release called "Manchild," and fans are speculating that she has taken a page from Taylor Swift's book of revenge. According to the internet, the song seems to be about her ex, Barry Keoghan, who was accused of cheating on the singer with an influencer.
Though the speculation started with just the title of the song, it was soon given a sort of confirmation by Sabrina Carpenter herself, with her caption "this one’s about you!!" The pop star teased the song in the most Sabrina way ever with cheeky video clips where she is seen dressed for the blistering summer, sporting her bombshell waves, and asking for a lift on the side of a road in the desert.
Billboards are seen all across the I-69 highway (another playful joke) with quips against men that are potentially lyrics to the song,
“Amen / Hey men”
“I swear they choose me, I’m not choosing them.”
And just like all the other playful teasers and jokes, Brina also released the date of the song with a funny video clip. Swaying to Lana Del Rey's "Norman F*cking Rockwell," Sabrina, dressed in blue disco shorts and a full-sleeved lace top, the "Taste" singer lip-synced to the lyrics,
"Goddamn, man child/You f*cked me so good that I almost said, "I love you"
An obvious nod to her upcoming single. The singer was running across the desert with her new curly hair, giggling and laughing.
Fans react to her upcoming song
With all the teasers and quips Sabrina Carpenter has been making, fans are thoroughly excited for what's to come with this new single.
One fan enthusiastically said,
"Yep it’s song of the summer already, Don’t need to hear it"
Another expressed,
"We will ALL be streaming! Sabrina is about to go 2 for 2 with this incoming Song of the Summer!"
One user reasoned,
"Only manchildren are upset, and you are the female equivalent of a manchild if your excitement for the release is that it is upsetting men rather then just being excited she is dropping a new single, have some self awareness"
While one user fully called out her ex,
"oh @BarryKeoghan, she tried to warn you…"
“Manchild” comes on the heels of Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth album, Short n’ Sweet, which earlier this year earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album.
