Heavy Metal band Metallica is set to perform an exclusive concert to celebrate the launch of Maximum Metallica, a new music channel on SiriusXM.
The club concert will take place on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagansett, Long Island, while the channel officially launches the following day (August 29) on Channel 42 and the SiriusXM app.
The announcement was made by the legendary group's drummer, Lars Ulrich, during an appearance on the Howard Stern Show on Wednesday.
Following the concert and the launch, a recording of the show will premiere on Maximum Metallica on Monday, September 1, at 12 p.m. ET. But fans can watch the rebroadcast multiple times throughout the week.
All about Maximum Metallica
The channel, termed “The Most Metallica Anywhere,” is set to show a wide range of content from the band’s extensive catalog, including major hits, deep cuts, rare live recordings, behind-the-scenes stories, exclusive interviews by the band members, and surprises for fans.
As for the performance, besides the rebroadcast, fans at home can also stream it via the SiriusXM app or watch the full airing on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM channel, Howard 101, on Friday, September 5, at 7:00 p.m. ET and PT. The launch of the channel is part of SiriusXM’s range of collaborations with major artists, hoping to deliver dedicated, artist-curated content.
Recently, Metallica was also making headlines after their efforts to save the Tomorrowland music festival. The fest, which kicked off on July 18, had an unfortunate incident when its main stage burned down. However, as a welcome surprise, the metal band took it upon themselves to fix up the issue, as the show must go on.
Working through the night, organizers repurposed elements from the band's WorldWired stage and touring rig to create an alternative setup for the main stage. A dedicated crew was handling the construction, and despite having less than 24 hours before the festival's kickoff, the team completed the build just in time. Doors opened as scheduled at 2 p.m., with the stage welcoming its first DJ set by 4 p.m..
Martin Garrix, who was set to perform on that very stage, took to social media to thank the band for their contributions:
"I can not believe I’m actually typing this… but my set at Tomorrowland is still happening! 🙏"
He went on:
"Massive love and a big shoutout to the incredible @tomorrowland team for pulling off miracles — and to @Metallica for coming through with the new stage parts 🤘❤️ Beyond excited to close the mainstage tonight. & this will hands down be the most unique Tomorrowland ever — and yes, I’ll be streaming it too."
The group is currently on their M72 world tour.
