The 2025 MTV VMAs' list of performers has officially expanded. MTV announced that Jelly Roll, Doja Cat, Post Malone, Tate McRae, and Conan Gray will take the stage at this year's ceremony.
They are now set to join a roster that also includes Mariah Carey, Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin, J Balvin, Alex Warren, Sombr, and Busta Rhymes. The show will be hosted by LL Cool J and broadcast live from UBS Arena in New York on Sunday, September 7, 2025. It will air on CBS, simulcast on MTV, and stream via Paramount+ in the U.S.
This year's MTV VMAs will be the first time that the event airs on CBS. The 2025 ceremony has also introduced new award categories such as Best Country and Best Pop Artist. Voting remains open until September 5, 2025.
To announce Tate McRae as one of this year's performers, MTV VMAs took to its official Instagram page and captioned:
"Get ready to danceeee @tatemcrae is making her #VMAs main stage debut!! 🧡 She is taking the stage LIVE September 7 on @cbstv and @paramountplus!"
More about the new additions to the 2025 MTV VMAs
Jelly Roll will make his VMAs performance debut this year. He is also nominated in four categories, including Best Alternative, Best Country, and Best Hip-Hop. In 2024, he appeared in the VMAs opening segment alongside Eminem with a performance of "Somebody Save Me." In 2025, he will step onto the main stage to perform and also to compete for his first-ever Moon Person award.
Doja Cat will return to the MTV VMAs stage after a two-year absence. She is a five-time VMA winner. Doja last performed in 2023. This year, she will deliver the first televised performance of her new single "Jealous Type." Her upcoming fifth studio album, Vie, is officially slated to be released on September 26, 2025.
Post Malone will return to the VMAs stage for the first time since 2018. That year, he closed the show with "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage. He performed with Aerosmith. This year, he is nominated for Best Collaboration for "Pour Me a Drink." It is a track with Blake Shelton from his country-focused record F-1 Trillion.
Tate McRae will perform on the VMAs main stage for the first time. The Canadian singer and dancer is also up for four nominations this year, including Song of the Year for "Sports Car" and Best Pop Artist. Her third studio album, So Close to What, was released earlier this year.
Last but not least, Conan Gray will also make his main stage debut. The pop singer-songwriter is expected to perform "Vodka Cranberry" from his fourth studio album, Wishbone. The album entered the Billboard 200 at No. 3 earlier this month. Gray previously performed at the VMAs in 2022 on the Extended Play stage.
