Morrissey temporarily halted his ongoing US tour after being hospitalized due to a sudden illness. The former frontman of The Smiths was forced to postpone two scheduled performances, in San Diego and Rancho Mirage, California, following a severe sinusitis attack that required medical treatment.
According to a statement released through Morrissey’s official pages, the 65-year-old was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego and is now recovering.
The tour is set to resume on Monday, May 5, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona. Rescheduled dates for the missed shows have been announced. The Rancho Mirage performance (originally set for May 3) has been moved to October 24, 2025, and San Diego (originally set for May 1) is officially pushed to January 6 next year.
Morrissey's team expressed gratitude to fans in the official statement. The statement read:
"ROLL ON TUCSON. The Morrissey tour will reconvene at Tucson Centennial Hall (Arizona) on Monday 5 May. Following the show at The Fox in Bakersfield, Morrissey contracted a severe sinusitis attack and was treated at Coronado Hospital in San Diego."
It continued:
"Missed shows at Rancho Mirage and San Diego are not cancelled and now have new dates. Morrissey, the band and crew, are very appreciative of those who convey understanding at difficult moments during tours."
This unexpected health update comes just a few days into Morrissey's North American run, which officially began on April 26, 2025. The early shows featured songs like "Best Friend on the Payroll" and "Scandinavia," along with several beloved tracks from his time with the British indie rock band The Smiths.
