Rapper Young Thug, aka Jeffery Lamar Williams II, appeared on the Perspektives With Bank podcast on September 7, where he addressed his situation with Gunna. According to Rolling Stone, this goes back to 2022, when Thug, along with Gunna and other members, became involved in the YSL RICO case, whose trial began in 2023.

According to the prosecutors, YSL was a criminal gang, a claim that Thug had dismissed previously. However, in 2022, Gunna took a plea, following which he stated that YSL also functioned as a criminal organization.a During the podcast, Thug said:

“I wouldn't even probably care to hit the sh*t anyway cause I feel like once you break a rule from your manhood, once you rat or once you turn gay and I don't got nothing against gay people, it's people that work for me.”

Speaking about queer people, Young Thug said:

“I don't hate that I even brought this sh*t. I don't want you to take it out, but I hate even bring it up cause I don't even want the LGTV. I don't even want that community to even think that I'm against them.”

Young Thug told Big Bank that if he saw someone as a real friend and they did things together, but later that person broke his trust, nothing they said would matter. He explained that breaking a “man code” meant losing respect, and once that trust was gone, he didn’t even want to hear from that person anymore.

Young Thug discusses what he did for Gunna

Elsewhere in the podcast, Thug spoke about Gunna’s traits, saying he was a strategic person, something he taught. However, he said Gunna made everything in his life about strategy, which he felt didn’t make him a real man. Young Thug said he helped Gunna become wealthy, adding:

“Like I bought his first apartment that he lived in. I bought it with my money. I made him put his money up. Keep your money. I bought it with my money cause I had some a little extras. I bought that sh*t. I went half and half with you to buy your mama house. Your mama first house. Get her out of the hood. I did that. Me.”

Young Thug said that he once told Gunna to visit his father, no matter what problems they had, because it was the right thing to do. He explained that he helped bring Gunna closer to his family and gave him a lot of his time, sometimes even more than he gave to his own kids or his partner. Speaking of what he did for Gunna, Thug said:

“I bought your brother his first truck and let you present it to him like you bought it. Your brother on the internet, man.”

When Big Bank asked if he still loved Gunna, Young Thug said he had given so much of himself to Gunna that he couldn’t truly hate him. While he was incarcerated and found out Gunna had taken a plea deal, he thought he hated him. Later, his girlfriend helped him realize that he wasn’t full of hate; he was just upset.
