Offset throws shade at Cardi B, pays tribute to Takeoff in new album

Offset throws shade at Cardi B in the new album's final track, Move On. The singer sings in the track:

"You got yo' getback so I had to get back... it's 50 to 2" "F**k the time that we had, it's erased....You never cooked n****s no food, you just want go out to Nobu...You f*cked around with the wrong dude, Hope your next n**** be great"

While his track features such lyrics, the singer himself recently talked with the Associated Press about the track, stating that it was in fact about moving on:

"It’s about moving on, like, peacefully. That’s what the message is supposed to be. It’s all love and peace. I just ended the album with that, just to end that chapter because it’s time to move on, it’s over and done with."

In another track of the album, Never Let Go, a collaboration with John Legend, the singer pays tribute to Takeoff, singing:

"How I'm supposed to get over you (Take)/Ain't been the same cuz this pain f**k up everything/ I mean everything, I even lost the wedding ring/ Need to talk to you my brother, just say anything/Until we meet again"

Offset and the late Takeoff were part of the group Migos, alongside Quavo. Takeoff died tragically in a shooting in Houston, Texas, in 2022. Offset recently reconciled with Quavo after a split in their relationship over him allegedly sleeping with Quavo's ex, Saweetie, in 2022.

Soon after that allegation came up, Quavo and Takeoff worked on the album Only Built for Infinity Links in October 2022, just before Takeoff's death.

In the same AP Entertainment interview quoted above, the rapper talked about how the new album differs from his previous release, Set It Off:

"It feels very personal. Not just about what I’m speaking on, but how serious the moment in time is for me to prevail. “‘Set It Off’ was a freedom. “Kiari,” instead, is “me, for what I am. And recognizing who I am, because I feel like sometimes you could get lost in trying to please other people and trying to do what they want you to do. So, this is like my rebellion. My rebellion album."

Offset's new album was preceded by its two singles. First, Bodies, a collaboration with JID, was released on June 20, 2025. The track became a hit, charting at the 72nd spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart as well as charting well in several international charts.

This was followed by the second single, Professional, on July 25, 2025. Aside from his solo career, Offset was recently featured in Gunna's new album, The Last Wun. He was featured on the track At My Purest.
