Wendy started her solo career debut in 2021 with the mini album, Like Water, which was released on April 5, 2021. This was followed by her second mini album, Wish You Hell, in 2024.

Aside from her solo career, the singer is known for working with Red Velvet and GOT the Beat. The singer started her career with Red Velvet alongside Irene, Seulgi, and Joy. As part of Red Velvet, the singer worked on highly successful albums such as Perfect Velvet, Chill Kill, as well as The ReVe Festival: Finale, The ReVe Festival 2022 – Birthday, and more.

In 2022, the singer joined the group GOT the Beat, formed by SM Entertainment and composed of herself as well as BoA, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seulgi, Karina, and Winter.

The group released a mini album, Stamp on It, on January 16, 2023, as well as some singles. Wendy talked about being part of GOT the Beat in an exclusive interview with Singles magazine in 2023, here quoted via allkpop's article on the matter on February 6, 2023, elaborating on her favorite song of the mini album, Rose:

"It's a song with a really charming vibe. It really brings out the vocals of Seulgi, BoA, and Taeyeon. What's interesting about this album is that each member's vocals stand out depending on the song. I am confident that you will fall in love with each member's charms if you listen to the album from beginning to end."

Wendy left SM Entertainment in 2025 and signed on with ASND subsequently. The singer will still be part of Red Velvet and all the group's future activities, as per the announcement made by SM Entertainment in April 2025. Wendy left SM Entertainment alongside another Red Velvet singer, Yeri.
