D4vd is currently under police investigation for the death of Celeste Rivas, whose decomposed body was discovered in a Tesla registered to the singer. Police have also searched a house where the singer was staying, belonging to one Mladen Trifunovic. Earlier this week, Celeste Rivas's family opened a GoFundMe page after she was identified as the body discovered in the Tesla.
Now Rivas's sister has spoken up, breaking her silence on her sister's death in an Instagram post on September 19, 2025:
"Celeste was only 15 years old. She should still be here with us.She trusted someone who didn’t protect her, and now she’s gone. Celeste’s life mattered. We’re sharing her story so people know her name and what happened. Please help spread it so she is never forgotten."
On the GoFundMe page, organized by Esmeralda Lozano on behalf of the Familia Rivas Hernandez, the announcement states:
"As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss. They are seeking help to lay her body to rest. Any funds you are able to donate are greatly appreciated."
As of the writing of this article, the GoFundMe has covered its goal of $20,000 USD, currently standing at $23,708 USD. The GoFundMe page is still active as of the writing of this article.
Celeste Rivas was found dead on September 8, 2025. At the time, Rivas was found wearing a tube top and black leggings, with a yellow metal chain bracelet and stud earrings. She had wavy black hair and weighed approximately 71 pounds, as per NBC News. Apparently, Rivas was inside the vehicle for an “extended period of time” before she was found. The actual cause of death has not been shared publicly.
D4vd tour and festival performances canceled amidst ongoing investigation
Reportedly, D4vd is collaborating with the police investigation. However, that has not stopped the fallout surrounding the singer.
The singer's upcoming US and Europe tour dates have been canceled. The deluxe version of his album Withered has also been withheld, with the singer's label Interscope, as per NME, putting on hold all promotional activities for the singer. He has also been taken off the lineup for the Spilt Milk festival, though the festival organizers have not acknowledged this officially as of the writing of this article.
D4vd was on tour in support of his debut album, Withered. The singer had performed across the US already in August and early September, before the series of events surrounding Rivas started. He has not commented on the matter publicly as of the writing of this article.
D4vd was also supposed to be part of a campaign involving Crocs and Hollister, which has been canceled. The brands issued a statement to Footwear News, stating:
"We are aware of this developing story. With respect to the current situation, we have removed campaign content featuring D4vd while the investigation continues."
D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, released Withered on April 25, 2025. The album is his first release since his second EP, The Lost Petals, on September 8, 2023. The singer has more recently collaborated with Hannah Bahng and Hyunjin, among others.
