On November 6, Billboard released an exclusive interview with Spanish singer Rosalia ahead of the release of her album, LUX. The female singer’s upcoming album is set to be released on November 7. During her interview, the artist mainly discussed her new album. Rosalia was asked about her take on the success of LUX. To this, she replied that success is like money to her.

“Success, for me, is freedom. And I felt all the freedom that I could imagine or hope for throughout this process. That’s all I wanted. I wanted to be able to pour what was inside, outside. And those inspirations, those ideas, make them into songs. I was able to do that, and I will not ask for more.” Rosalia commented.

The artist was also asked about her approach while making her album LUX. She revealed that her album was a challenge for her. She learned different elements from composers in history for making LUX.

“This album has a completely different sound than any of the projects that I’ve done before. It was a challenge for me to do a more orchestral project and learn how to use an orchestra, understand all the instruments, all the possibilities, and learn and study from amazing composers in history and say, “OK, that’s what’s been done.”

Furthermore, Rosalia also touched upon her mission in making the new album.

“It’s made from love and curiosity. I’ve always wanted to understand other languages, learn other music, learn from others about what I don’t know. It comes from curiosity, from wanting to understand others better, and through that I can understand who I am better. I love explaining stories. I like to be the narrator. I think as much as I love music itself, music is just a medium to explain stories, to put ideas on the table. So that’s what this project is for me.”

When Rosalia was asked how she worked with 13 different languages for her album, the idol replied that she took many things into consideration. She further added that she had to make it sound good besides only writing songs.

“There were so many things that I had to play with and take under consideration. Because it’s not just writing. It’s not just on paper. It has to sound good. There’s a big difference for me when I write, for example, a letter for somebody that I love than if I write a song. It has to have a certain sound, a certain intention of musicality.”

In related news, Rosalia held an exclusive listening session for LUX at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya in Barcelona on November 5. The Oval Room was transformed into an immersive atmosphere with white materials and delicate lighting. Around 900 guests, including politicians, sports figures, and artists, enjoyed the 18-track album in silence amid no-recording regulations.

The album is divided into four parts. The vinyl records will have 18 songs, and the digital versions will have 15 songs.
