The Weeknd recently released a new Timeless remix in collaboration with Playboi Carti and Doechii. Timeless was originally released in late 2024 as part of The Weeknd's Hurry Up Tomorrow album in collaboration with Playboi Carti, and it instantly became a big hit with the fans. Doechii has also been on a roll of late, and by bringing another Grammy-winning artist into the fold, the track marks a pivotal moment in modern music.

The last year has been really kind to Doechii, who also made her Met Gala debut recently. Her breakout album, Alligator Bites Never Heal, which was released in August 2024, even led to her winning the Grammy earlier this year. The album has consistently trended near the top of the charts and recently even surpassed the 1 billion mark on Spotify. So it was no surprise to see her reflecting on her success over the past year when she flexed her lyrical mastery in the new Timeless remix:

"This s**t too easy/I’m in the club with a G-SHOCK/Fendi baguette and it’s peacock/I think I’m out your league, boss/Top Dawg cashin’ out Doechii stock/Pull up to the pgLang on the dot/Now I got a timeshare wristwatch/I been that girl since hopscotch, I’m too legit."

The news also made its way over to social media, but the reactions to the remix were mixed, to say the least. The negative reactions to the news likely stem from the fact that Doechii has often been labelled as an 'industry plant' by social media users, a rumor that she has repeatedly denied. Fans didn't take too kindly to the collab and expressed their opinions on X.

One fan commented:

"Idk why they waited for the song to be out for 30 weeks before doing a remix…."

Another remarked:

"I like Doechii but this did absolutely nothing for me."

Another fan chimed in with the following statement:

"Love Doechii but this remix was unnecessary, the base song is already amazing as it is."

One enthusiastic fan claimed:

"They really cooked with this one!!"

Another fan wrote:

"This remix goes crazy Doechii snapped on it....."

In his frustrations with the track, one fan quipped:

What's next for the trio?

The Weeknd and Playboi Carti's Timeless was already a popular choice amongst fans, having debuted to a strong opening and becoming The Weeknd's highest-debuting track ever on the Billboard Hot 100. In that context, the decision to drop a new Timeless remix comes across as a bold step, but it can also be argued that Doechii's success over the past year has warranted her a spot on the roster of such high-profile collaborations.

The coming days will give us an idea about the reception of the Timeless remix. Doechii's upcoming projects include performances at the Lollapalooza and the Outside Lands Music Festival 2025, whereas The Weeknd and Playboi Carti will continue with their After Hours Til Dawn Tour. The Weeknd also stars in the movie Hurry Up Tomorrow, which is scheduled to release in theatres on May 16, 2025.
