Sabrina Carpenter recently opened up about the period when she moved to New York City to write Emails I Can't Send.

The singer reflected on how relocating to the Big Apple during a significant phase of her career played an important role in her music. The confession came during her final show at Madison Square Garden.

Sabrina Carpenter addressed her New York audience, describing how moving to the city helped her create her 2022 album, Emails I Can't Send. She said,

"Yeah, New York has just been so incredibly special and pivotal to me in my life. Singing that last song is always so surreal. I want to cry every time because when I wrote it, I really didn't think anyone would be singing it with me, let alone. But I've sold out nights at MSG, so this is very surreal."
"I moved to New York City to write that album, Emails I Can't Send, and that was a very interesting time in my life where I was looking for a lot of answers, and New York's just, you know, it's just gonna get right back to me. So thank you guys for being so inspiring and welcoming."

The Man's Best Friend singer added:

"You guys get like a bad rep for the people yelling on the streets and shit, but you're actually really nice, like a lot of you. And your water is so good, and your bagels. So I've lived here for the last four years. I moved here after that, and I've just fallen in love with it. I wouldn't call myself like a proper New Yorker, but I'm trying every chance I get.
"So if you see me staring at you for a while tonight, that's why. I'm just like studying. And I'm sorry, but that's just what I get to do because I've been sitting up here for so long."

Netizens reacted to her revelation, saying:

"Every city has a rhythm - but New York gave hers a voice. Sabrina turning heartbreak into art is proof that creativity blooms even in chaos. 🎤A🌆💖🌟👍"
