‘We will miss him so much’: Reba McEntire remembers former stepson Brandon Blackstock after his death

Talent Manager Brandon Blackstock passed away in August 7, 2025, after battling Melanoma for three years, leaving his family members devastated.

His stepmother, Reba McEntire, who was married to his father, Narvel Blackstock, from 1989 to 2015, has commented under an emotional post penned by her son, Shelby, Brandon’s stepbrother, on social media.

Shelby Blackstock’s tribute on Instagram on August 8, 2025, reads:

"Words cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured. Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son. Brandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable part of our family—funny, bright, and full of life—and he will be deeply missed."

Shelby stated that he would continue to feel Brandon’s presence as he continued living life, doing the activities he had previously enjoyed with his brother.

He continued:

“We will always miss you, Brandon, and we will never stop loving, remembering and celebrating you.”

Reba Mcintre commented under Shelby’s post, saying that the family would feel Brandon’s loss deeply:

“Very well said, Shelby. Yes, we will miss him so much.”

Brandon BlackStock’s relationship with stepmother Reba McEntire explored

Although the country music star divorced Narvel Blackstock in 2015, she remained a stepmother to Brandon till his death. In a 2020 interview with Entertainment Tonight, McEntire referred to Brandon as her son:

"Brandon’s been my son forever, it seems. Although he’s my stepson, I still love him like he’s my total — my blood, so I’m praying for them both because I love them both.”

She played the role of grandmother to Brandon’s kids with singer Kelly Clarkson and Brandon's son Seth Blackstock with Melissa Ashworth. In an interview with PEOPLE in 2018, the Fancy hitmaker complained about not getting frequent visits from her grandchildren:

“I don’t ever see the grandchildren. It was a lot better when everybody was not so busy, but I’ve got seven grandchildren, so they’re scattered all over the country and busy doirng stuff. But I love them.”

Kelly Clarkson, married to Brandon Blackstock from 2013 to 2020, postponed her Las Vegas residency after learning how his health had deteriorated. They have two children together: River Rose and Remington Alexander.
