American musician and guitarist Ace Frehley of the KISS rock band passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025, after several days of battling for his life. The singer was 74 when he died. According to TMZ, the late singer was on life support for a while before his family decided to turn off his ventilator.
Ace Frehley began his music career playing for various bands, including the Outrage, the Four Roses, King Kong, Honey, and Magic People. It was not until 1972 that he joined the newly founded rock group KISS. As a solo singer, Frehley released eight studio albums, including Ace Frehley, Trouble Walkin', Anomaly, Space Invader, Origins Vol. 1, Spaceman, Origins Vol. 2, and 10,000 Volts.

On September 26, it was announced that Frehley was taken to the hospital after a minor fall in his studio. According to the announcement, the singer was okay; however, he had to cancel his performance at the Antelope Valley, which was expected to occur that day.
Days later, on October 6, his team announced that all of Ace’s projects for the year had been canceled due to medical issues. They did not specify the issues or the singer's condition.
“Due to some ongoing medical issues, Ace has made the difficult decision to cancel the remainder of his 2025 dates.”
On Thursday, October 16, TMZ reported that the singer was on life support and wasn't getting any better. They added that the singer’s family was considering putting off the ventilator. Hours after the report, it was announced that Frehley was dead.
Following his passing, Ace’s bandmates paid their tribute to the guitarist. Gene and Paul of KISS wrote in a joint tribute:
“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS's legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”
Bruce Kulick, a former KISS member, wrote:
“Ace’s passing is devastating to the world of rock. It has deeply affected me as well. He was one of a kind and truly an iconic guitar player. His undeniable role in the creation and success of KISS cannot be forgotten. Not only was he loved by all, he influenced millions of guitarists around the world.”
