BTS’ RM and Tablo’s freshly released collaboration, Stop The Rain, has garnered significant attention from fans and netizens due to its overwhelmingly raw lyrics and RM’s mention of the 27 Club.

The 27 Club is an informal list of celebrities whose lives ended at the age of 27. The list collates names of popular stars who died at 27, and coincidentally, most of the celebrities on the list had similar life patterns before their death, including insecurity, chronic unhappiness, depression, tumultuous relationships, and addiction.

Some musicians on the list include Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Kim Jong-hyun, and Mohbad.

Stop The Rain is a song by Tablo and BTS’ Rm. It was released on May 2, 2025, and was written by RM, Tablo, Will Leong, and Anthony Watts. The latter three also produced it.

Before its official release, Tablo gave a warning on his official X account, describing the song as an honest but painful song.

“Soon! It's an honest song, and because it's honest, there is pain there. But that's also what makes it an empowering song. What we want is for you to nod your head to it, blast it at the gym or in your car on the way to work, dance & sing along to it, make memes, make it yours, and enjoy it. That's how we stop the rain inside of us.”

True to Tablo's warning, the song contains really heavy lyrics that describe the struggles the two artists have experienced in their lives. The chorus of the song encapsulates this:

“Can't run away from the pain
I feel like I'm goin' insane
Bad thoughts fillin' up my brain
Demons swimmin' inside my veins
Two seconds from fallin' into nothing
Can't run away from the pain
I'm tryna stop the rain.”

However, what really caught the attention of fans and netizens alike was the mention of the 27 Club. A part of the second verse by RM reads:

“When I was a kid
I was convinced that I was destined for the 27 club
I'm twenty nine, sinkin' in the bathtub, sippin' gin, lookin' for another club
All the lost was a lust, dust into dust
Stray after stable, 다시 덫 뒤에 덫
And every night, I put my shadows on
But you know how much I hate my status quo?
"Be positive" I know.”

The lyrics reveal that RM believed he would pass away at age 27 and, at the time, had thoughts of self-harm.
