Demi Lovato is back! After the release of her two back-to-back songs, the singer announced her upcoming album, titled It's Not That Deep, scheduled to be released on October 24. It's Not That Deep is Lovato's ninth studio album.
The news was first announced on her Instagram on September 15 with a caption that read:
"this music is a reflection of where i am now. so proud of all the work Iβve done, and now, itβs time to celebrate and have some fun!!!"
The album cover features Demi holding a bright pink strappy dress, surrounded by people going about their own activities. It features a pair of men playing chess, a group chatting while another group and a young boy stare at the camera, and a girl sitting with a dog next to her.
Revealing the meaning behind the album cover, she told Paper Magazine:
"What's great about the album cover is that you can see that I'm self-aware of all these people with their eyes on me, but Iβm locked in and unfazed by the chaos around me. Then, you know, I'm covering myself with a dry cleaning bag that says, βWe [Heart] Our Customers.β"
She further added:
"Iβm covering myself with a dry cleaning bag, but I'm naked underneath. So I'm owning my sexuality while also, you know, it's saying βWe <3 Our Customers,β so it's for the fans. It's this image where there's chaos around me"
Demi described this album as a gift to her fans, saying itβs about reclaiming her power amidst the chaos.
Demi Lovato talks about her latest song, Here All Night, from her upcoming album
Last Friday, Demi Lovato released her new song, Here All Night, on streaming platforms, accompanied by a video showing her dancing in her apartment. In Paper magazine, she revealed that she wrote the song two months prior, in July. Speaking about its theme, she explained that the song is about trying to get over someone, even when it feels difficult.
She told Paper Magazine:
"The only way that you can is to lose yourself in the music and in the dancing. The song takes place in a club, but the video we made in my apartment. We didn't want it to be too on the nose, but that's how the video and the song came about. And I'm really proud of them."
Lovato has already released two songs from her upcoming album, Itβs Not That Deep, which includes Fast and Here All Night. The complete album will consist of eleven songs.
