When did Brent Hinds and Raisa Moreno get engaged? Relationship explored as guitarist dies at 51

Brent Hinds, lead guitarist of the Atlanta-based heavy metal band Mastodon, lost his life in a motorcycle crash. The news was shared by his band on Instagram through the statement:

"We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief… last night Brent Hinds passed away as a result of a tragic accident. We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many."

Hinds was married to his longtime girlfriend, Raisa Moreno. The couple first drew attention in April 2017 during a Mastodon concert in Birmingham, Alabama. During the concert, Hinds proposed to Moreno on stage in front of the audience, marking their engagement.

Soon after their engagement, the couple tied the knot in May 2017. Hinds shared photos on Instagram, announcing the news to his fans. The caption of the post read:

The couple were very open to sharing appreciation posts for each other on social media with videos and photos, sharing glimpses of their life with their fans. In October 2021, Brent Hinds uploaded a number of photos with Raisa Moreno with the caption:

"Finally got to spends some quality time with @raisamrn out of Atlanta with a nice day off in old town Sacramento"

In 2023, Raisa Moreno also wished Brent on his birthday, sharing a caption that read:

"Happy birthday Brentinho! Cheers to many more years of greatness to come! ♥️ I’m very proud of all you’ve accomplished & what you have yet to share with the world. I love you ✨"

That same year, the couple uploaded Valentine’s Day posts for each other on social media, with Hinds calling Raisa his one and only love of his life. Raisa responded with an 'I love you' on her Instagram post with a photo of the two.

However, soon after, the couple stopped tagging or mentioning each other on social media, which started speculation about a possible split. Both Brent Hinds and Raisa Moreno chose to keep their personal lives private and never addressed the reason behind their silence online or whether they had separated.

In January 2024, reflecting on the past year, Raisa wrote on Instagram:

"It’s been a wild ride of changes and learning. Not the smoothest year, but huge love to my incredible friends, family, dogs, and everyone who brought those smiles. ♥️"

Her last Instagram post was shared on July 30 this year. As of now, she has not made any public statement regarding Brent Hinds’ passing.
