Longtime Kanye West advocate Consequence has announced plans to release a new single, which will see the two of them collaborating for the first time in over a year. The two have had a long-standing association with each other since the early 2000s, and the sight of their camaraderie was also seen in their joint effort track "No Apologies," which was released last year.
Consequence recently opened up about his future plans in an interview with AllHipHop, and also revealed the tentative date for the release of the track. In the interview, he was quoted as saying:
"I’ve got the beat of the summer again. When my new single drops—and yes, Ye produced it, we’re going to have some conversations"
Kanye West and Consequence's relationship over the years
Kanye West's early career was marked by frequent collaborations with Consequence, who happened to be related to the hip-hop producer Q-Tip, a fact that greatly contributed to helping him in the music industry. The rapper featured in some of West's major works, including The College Dropout (West's debut album) and Late Registration.
Consequence has also delivered several hits in his career, such as "Caught Up in the Hype", "Down This Road", "Say My Name", and others. He enjoyed a great relationship with Kanye West in the early 2000s, which even led him to sign with West's GOOD Music label and release his official debut album “Don’t Quit Your Day Job!” (released in 2007).
However, fractions started to appear in their relationship in 2011, and even led to the rapper's exit from West's GOOD Music label.
Consequence even started his own label (a.k.a. 192 Records) in the wake of his departure from West's music label, but the two seem to have ironed out their differences over the years. Last year, the rapper, had released his second album, Nice Doing Business With You, which also featured Kanye West.
The last track (No Apologies) that the two collaborated on was received well by the fans, and the possibility of another joint venture between them has managed to cause the same joy among fans on various social media platforms.
Kanye West has been facing some heavy criticism in the past few months, and even his latest albums have been marked with mixed reviews by the audience. West's association with his long-term friend in his recent works points towards the respect he holds for him and also suggests a return to the style that has proved to be successful for him in earlier instances.
Their partnership has been one of hip-hop’s most interesting relationships over the past few decades, and West's involvement in the new single could also suggest the beginning of renewed creative collaboration between these two hip-hop veterans.
