SilkMoney (stylized as $ilkMoney) is a rapper out of Virginia. The rapper started his career with the hip-hop group Divine Council, which started around 2013 and ended in 2017. Divine Council released two EPs and a viral single, P. Sherman. They were signed to Epic Records briefly before their disbanding in 2017.
After the breakup of Divine Council, $ilkMoney started his solo career, gaining recognition with tracks such as My Potna Dem and NAGA, the latter a collaboration with Tyler, The Creator.
Now the singer has come forward with an allegation that Tyler, The Creator has copied his track My Potna Dem on his new track Mommanem from the album Don't Tap The Glass. The rapper made his allegation in an expletive-laden Instagram story post no longer available.
The post featured a snippet of Mommanem, captioned:
"All you n****s get off my d*ck in my DMs. F*ck you and this n***a. Nobody talking about titles. This n***a copying 'My Potna Dem.' Eat a d*ck."
Tyler, The Creator has not made any response to the allegations as of the writing of this article. Don't Tap The Glass was released on July 21, 2025, via Columbia Records.
SilkMoney released his new album on July 18, 2025
SilkMoney released his new album, WHO WATERS THE WILTING GIVING TREE ONCE THE LEAVES DRY UP AND FRUITS NO LONGER BEAR?, on July 18, 2025.
The singer talked about his new album and his career in an exclusive interview with The Fader that was published on July 17, 2025. In the final part of the interview, the rapper talked about the concept of 'Giving Tree' and how he came up with it:
"Every time I drop an album or do anything, I give my all to it. I give every single thing I have within me. I give my hatred, I give my love, I give my jovial side, my community, I give everything that is that encompasses what Murphy Graves is, f**k $ilkmoney. And I wrap it all into a present, and boom, it's an album."
SilkMoney continued:
"Molding it around The Giving Tree, I feel like every single one of us are givers in our own way, whether you give your all to your passion or your dream or your children or whatever, we're just giving and giving and giving, whether we receive what we feel like we gave back in equal value or whether we receive nothing at all."
SilkMoney added:
"That's what I feel like about hip-hop. I give my all to hip-hop and whether I feel like I've received what I'm supposed to receive from hip-hop or not, at the end of the day, hip-hop owes me nothing and I owe my all to it."
WHO WATERS THE WILTING GIVING TREE ONCE THE LEAVES DRY UP AND FRUITS NO LONGER BEAR? consists of 15 tracks running to a total of 41 minutes and 91 seconds. It was released by Lex Records and is the singer's first major release since 2022's I Don't Give a Fuck About This Rap Shit, Imma Just Drop Until I Don't Feel Like It Anymore.
SilkMoney has overall released five solo albums, with his debut being the 2018 album, I Hate My Life and I Really Wish People Would Stop Telling Me Not. Before that, he released the EP, Wan Lovey: A Love Story EP.
