A$AP Rocky recently posted three images on his official X page with the caption "SLIDIN IN PARIS". One of the images has him stepping out of a car in bright red Mary Jane shoes. This led to him being compared to the character of Dorothy Gale from the 'Wizard of Oz' musical film adaptation by the movie house MGM.

The adaptation featured Judy Garland as Dorothy Gale. The film's shoes, specifically titled the 'Ruby Slippers', differ from their depiction in the original novels by L. Frank Baum. In the novels, Dorothy wears 'Silver Slippers', not ruby.

Netizens seem to compare A$AP Rocky with Dorothy due to the departure they present from the rest of the outfit, which is in Grey. They also took issue with the rapper not releasing his forthcoming album. A netizen stated:

"Ain't no way bro here roleplaying the girl from wizard of Oz instead of dropping the album yeah we're cooked."

Another netizen referenced the ability of the Dorothy shoes in the movie to teleport Dorothy to her home, noting:

"Blood bouta tap his shoes twice and teleport to Compton."

A$AP Rocky responded to these comparisons by posting a second tweet on July 25, 2025:

A$AP Rocky's fourth album is set to be released in 2025

A$AP Rocky's fourth album, Don't Be Dumb, is set to be released sometime in 2025. The singer gave the latest update regarding the album in an exclusive interview with GQ earlier this year, stating:

"People are tired of hearing about updates about the album. They’re just ready to get this shit, you know what I’m saying? I don’t think anybody wants to hear where I’m at with it, how far is it along and all that."

The singer continued:

"They just want to hear some shit just to see where I’m at, and I promise I got some new shit in store. I’m challenging myself. It’s like anything, I approach it with a different tactic, degree, or finesse."

In a previous interview with Billboard on August 22, 2024, the singer elaborated on the first track of the album, Shroom Cloud, and its themes:

"At times like this, only two types of people strive and survive. I’m not trying to sound like I’m glorifying wars, [but] I think artists and druggies, they make it through. I mean, what was the hippies doing? They was getting high at Woodstock and f–king and having a great time and having these hippie babies who subsequently had us."

Don't Be Dumb has so far seen four singles. The first of these was Highjack, which is a collaboration with Jessica Pratt. It was released on August 2, 2024. The second single, Tailor Swif, was released on August 30, 2024. The third single, Ruby Rosary, was released on September 3, 2024, and features J.Cole. The fourth and so far the final single, Pray4DaGang, was released on July 4, 2025, and features KayCyy.

The album features production by The Alchemist, Pharrell Williams, Swedish House Mafia, and Metro Boomin. It also features James Blake, Greg Kurstin, Clams Casino, and Mike Dean, among others. The album also features collaborations with Danny Elfman.

A$AP Rocky last released an album in 2018. The album, Testing, was released in May 2018 and charted well upon release, topping out at the 4th spot on the Billboard 200 album chart.
