Selena Gomez’s co-star in The Wizards of Waverly Place, David Henrie, recently revealed why he wasn’t able to attend her wedding in September. On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, David Henrie appeared on the Zach Sang Show and shared how disappointed he was to miss his co-star’s special day.
When asked if he was present to see Selena tie the knot, David answered, “Unfortunately, no.”
He added:
“I'm about to announce a project that I was out of state on, and there was no way I can get back. I literally tried every single way to try to get back. Breaks my heart.”
The 36-year-old actor also revealed the advice he gave Selena for her wedding day:
“The best advice I got right before my wedding, someone pulled me aside and said, ‘Hey dude, hold your wife’s hand and take like a solid minute and just look around the room. Look at your wife and go, ‘This is our minute,’ and look around the room and just remember.’ To this day, that’s like my one memory from my wedding, is that moment.”
He told Selena to take a moment and appreciate the moment:
“I passed that on of just like, take a moment to just take it in 'cause everyone's going to be coming up to her and everyone's going to be saying 'hi,' pulling her in every direction. I hope they did that.”
David Henrie and Selena Gomez’s recent project
David Henrie and Selena Gomez worked together on the original Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place. Now, after over two decades, the two stars act and executive produce the 2025 spin-off of the series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
In a recent exclusive interview with People magazine, David Henrie praised Selena Gomez’s business instincts:
“I've gotten to see a different side of her and how her brain works in a more professional setting, which is wonderful. She really has had such good instincts, and her belief in the project and in everyone means a lot.”
He credited the “Love You Like a Love Song” singer with part of the project’s success:
“It's a big deal, and I think a lot of that is credit to Selena's belief and effort in helping make this what it is.”
