Popular Australian pop singer and songwriter Dean Lewis has found himself embroiled in multiple misconduct allegations. For the past few weeks, several fans of Dean, primarily female, have come out to accuse the singer of inappropriate behavior. They took to social media spaces, including TikTok and Instagram, to accuse Dean of engaging in flirtatious and intimate interactions that made fans uncomfortable.

Women shared text messages and voice notes from Dean Lewis showing him flirting, sexting, and arranging to meet with some fans. The singer confirmed the allegation in a lengthy apology statement shared on his official Instagram account; however, he claimed that everything was consensual and legal.

“I wanted to share some thoughts on the recent posts about me on social media. I understand why people are angry and disappointed after learning embarrassing details of intimate, private conversations and relationships I've had with consenting adults over the past decade, but I want to emphasise that none of this is illegal.”

He added:

“The individuals leading the campaign against me have repeatedly acknowledged this, and I'm hurt by any suggestion that l've done things that have crossed into illegality. At the same time, I realise l've made an incredible mess, people are genuinely hurt, and I need to make changes.”

More details on Dean Lewis’ apology statement

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, Dean Lewis took to his official Instagram to share an apology statement addressing the controversial misconduct allegations against him that had been circulating for the past weeks. He admitted to texting some fans but said they were with ‘adult women of different ages.”

“But yes, as a straight man, I've been flirty with adult women of all different ages, in-person, online, and over text. Occasionally, that flirting leads to consensual intimate encounters or relationships that I thought were private.”

He continued:

“And like anyone who has ever dated, been in a relationship, or just sent dumb flirty texts (and yes, sometimes sexts), I've done and said incredibly stupid, insensitive, and embarrassing things that I'm mortified by when looking back.”

He apologized to friends, fans, and family for his actions.

“This is not only an apology to the women who have spoken up, but those who haven't and felt hurt by my words or behavior. I also need to apologise to my family and fans who l've gravely disappointed.”

Dean Lewis also spoke against false allegations and threats to his family.

“Finally, while I'm open to any criticism of me, threats to conduct "exposes" on my family who have nothing to do with my poor decision making are over the line. Be angry with me, but please leave my family out of this.”

He concluded the lengthy message by revealing he would be going for intense therapy.

“Specifically, I am enrolling myself into intense therapy to make better choices and dramatically shift my approach to dating, relationships, and showing greater care to the women in my life.”

Dean Lewis concluded:

“Changes will also include a whole new set of rules so there's never confusion or questions about my intent when I'm engaging with fans or responding to messages in the future.”

Lewis has released 3 albums in the last 6 years.
