Soulshine At Sea 3 was scheduled to be held from November 4, 2025, to November 8, 2025. However, the event has been canceled due to the recent s*xual abuse allegations labelled against one of the performers, Michael Franti, by Victoria Canal.

More on the allegations against Michael Franti amidst the Soulshine at Sea cancellation

Soulshine at Sea's cancellation of the performances featuring Michael Franti was preceded by the withdrawal of Hirie and Dispatch from the event following Canal's allegations. Also, Tank and The Bangas withdrew from their upcoming tour dates with Franti.

As mentioned above, the allegations against Michael Franti come from Victoria Canal. Canal made her allegations in a post on her official Instagram page, revealing that she faced grooming and s*xual abuse at his hands. It is to be noted that Canal did not name Franti directly in her first statement, due to fears of a legal case and its potential financial and emotional toll, but subsequent responses by other figures made that detail clear.

Canal discussed how she was discovered by a powerful old man at the age of 19, presumably referring to Michael Franti, who posted in a now-deleted page on his website that he had discovered her back in 2018. The singer then went on to describe how the older man proceeded to isolate her and continued his abuse over the next year:

"He would take me on walks, ask me about my life, slowly and surely introducing s**ual topics...He would invite me to his hotel room to 'record vocals', telling me how much he believed in me, only to then insist I lie down with him... he would take my body in him and rock back and forth and to my quiet "Not sure this is a good idea", he would say "its fine as long as you don't tell anyone."

The singer later added that the older man later confessed all of this to her:

"This experience, which lasted a little over a year, has had a years lasting effect on my intimate life. At the very end of it, this person verbally admitted to me (while I was in an extremely vulnerable position) that getting me in this position had been his plan all along."

In response to Victoria Canal's allegations and the subsequent withdrawal of other acts from Soulshine at Sea, Michael Franti issued a statement denying the allegations, while admitting that he had what he claimed was a "consensual" relationship.

Soulshine At Sea was set to feature Michael Franti & The Spearhead, Dispatch, Hirie, and others before it was canceled. Soulshine At Sea has previously been held in 2023 and 2024.
