DDG recently made a Father's Day post on his official X page, wishing 'active fathers' good wishes, stating:

"Happy father’s day to all the active dads worldwide."

DDG's well-wishing for fathers comes at a time when the rapper was served with a restraining order by a court for his abusive behaviour towards Hailey Bailey, the mother of his son. In this context, the message of Father's Day by the rapper was not met with approval and instead faced backlash on social media, as exemplified by the tweets below:

"You are NOT getting that custody LMFAOOOOOOOOOO."
"Replace that D in the middle to a B. So you can be called “Dead Beat Garbage” one netizen lashed out.
"So everyone not an abuser including yourself" another netizen reacted.
"Happy Father’s Day to all the moms who do it all year around." one commenter stated.
"So not you ?" one reactor opined.

A brief overview of DDG's court battle with Hailey Bailey

DDG and Hailey Bailey's troubles started in 2024, when the two went their separate ways in October 2024. This was soon followed by Bailey's filing for sole legal custody of her child as well as the aforementioned restraining order. Both requests were granted by the court in May 2025.

The court documents filed by Hailey Bailey include her testimony on alleged incidents that happened throughout her and DDG's relationship. In one part of the document, here quoted via AP's article on the matter on May 14, 2025:

"Throughout our relationship. Daryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse."

In response to these filings and the restraining order by Bailey, DDG filed a complaint against Bailey in the court, alleging that Bailey was suicidal and thus should not be allowed to take their son to Italy. The portion of the petition is quoted here via an E! News article on the matter on June 5, 2025:

"Given these threats to self-harm. I believe the Petitioner is a threat to our son's safety such that she should not be allowed to take Halo out of the country to Italy for a period of two months."

The petition was rejected by the judge based on insufficient evidence. DDG had also filed for sole custody of his and Bailey's son. That part is still ongoing, with Bailey's sole custody of her son to continue till the next hearing of the case. Soon after this, the rapper apologized to Bailey over their relationship and the mess he made of it:

"I want to come on here and genuinely apologize for that time. I was young. You know, it was just, I was just on an internet high. We had, like, past situations. We had, like, little s**t. Because I done said some hoe s**t. And y’all know the whole little situation. The s**t that I continue to do. It’s a very, very touchy subject."

The rapper and Hailey Bailey's relationship first began back in 2021, and the two had their son in 2023, with Bailey giving birth on December 23, 2023. DDG, before his relationship with Bailey, dated singer Rubi Rose in 2020. In his music career, the rapper released his latest album, Blame the Chat, on May 2, 2025.
