Amy Robach and TJ Holmes' complete relationship timeline explored amid their first public appearance with daughters

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes made a rare appearance with their blended family on the red carpet at iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball. Their relationship began three years ago, when they were spotted holding hands inside a car, and later cozying up together in a bar in NYC.

On Friday, the couple was taking photos with their respective children on their side at the iHeartRadio's Jingle Ball red carpet. Robach was joined by her two daughters, Annalise and Ava, who are 22 and 19, respectively, and Holmes was joined by his daughter Sabine, who is 12.

Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes' relationship timeline

At the time they were spotted together three years ago, the former anchors were married to their respective partners. However, an insider source clarified that the pair were not cheating on their partners. The source spoke to PEOPLE and said:

"This was two consenting adults who were each separated. They both broke up with their spouses in August within weeks of each other... The relationship didn't start until after that."

During the early days of their relationship, they were still working as co-anchors on GMA3: What You Need to Know. Before the end of 2022, Robach and Holmes were placed on hiatus from the news program because of their workplace romance.

An insider spoke to PEOPLE about the incident, explaining the reason why the co-anchors were not going to be on air. They said:

"GMA decided to have a period of cooling down, because they thought this was unwanted attention... So, for the time being, they're going to be off the air."

A few days later, T.J. Holmes filed for divorce from his wife of 12 years. This was followed by Holmes and Robach spending the holidays together in Miami. A close source to them shared:

"They spent the holidays together and are spending all of their time together right now... They are fully in a relationship. They are not hiding anything at all because they have no reason to."

The following year, both Amy and T.J. decided to leave GMA3: What You Need To Know. An ABC spokesperson gave a statement on the matter, saying:

"After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes about different options, we all agreed it's best for everyone that they move on from ABC News. We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are thankful for their contributions."

The next year was a busy one for Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes. They spent a lot of time together, going on vacation to Mexico, running a half-marathon together, attending football games, and even launching a new podcast together.

In December, the couple made their red carpet debut at iHeartRadio's annual Jingle Ball in Los Angeles. The pair also talked about marriage on their podcast, with Amy saying:

"It's under consideration... We did not enter this relationship for fun or for 'Let's see what happens.' We entered this relationship because we intended on spending our lives together. So whether or not we have some sort of legal, you know, I don't know, button on it."

Amy continued to explain their relationship by saying:

"We both have two marriages under our belts, and so it's not something we're racing to or rushing towards... But there is something, I get it, it's this thing that I can't even explain why there's this desire, but I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I can say that. It's on the table. Last year in September, the couple shared on their podcast that they had moved in together for a few weeks before recording the episode.

A year later, in October, the couple made their engagement public on their Amy & T.J. podcast.

Amy Robach shared:

"I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, 'Hey, what's that?' And it never happened... And if people saw it, maybe they were just being polite."
