Popular YouTuber and streamer Zack Goyt, aka Asmongold, believes Twitch hasn’t been fair in its dealings with Twitch Star Hasan Piker, popularly known as HasanAbi. The Twitch streamer has been documenting the LA riots and has captured footage of many incidents from the riot on his livestream on the Twitch platform.
Asmongold, whilst on a live stream, was asked to make comments on HasanAbi not facing any form of discipline for streaming live from the LA Riots, which began on Friday, June 6, 2025, due to the recent immigration raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the city.
Asmongold, who has been banned from Twitch on several occasions, stated:
“It is undeniable that Hasan getting on the highway yesterday and doing that is breaking the law. This is an undeniable reality that even people who support him, I think, would have to accept. The fact that he didn’t get suspended immediately for doing this shows how blatantly biased Twitch is.”
Asmongold continued that HasanAbi has broken multiple Terms of Service of the Twitch platform and yet had not been punished accordingly:
“Because you can have somebody in front of a live stream of thousands of people openly and flagrantly break the law in front of everybody on the top of your website. The dude is a partnered streamer. This isn’t just a random person—Twitch knows who this is, and there are no consequences for doing that."
Asmongold asserts that Twitch’s lack of response to HasanAbi’s LA Riots streaming could open them to legal liability
Asmongold continued his livestream and attempted to explain how the Terms Of Service for the Twitch platform worked.
“Meanwhile, it would be one thing if the TOS didn’t say this. The TOS says that you have to observe the law, and you have to not break the law, whenever you’re around or whenever you are streaming. This is the reason, for example, distracted driving and driving without a seatbelt isn’t allowed. The reason why it’s not allowed is because not only is it unsafe, but it also is against the law. Yeah, it’s that simple.”
The content creator continued, stating that the social media platform could be liable for its refusal to act:
“I think this puts Twitch in a very interesting position. There are people breaking the law on their platform, and they allow it to happen. There’s literally no excuse, and I think this opens them up to a level of legal liability for which I’m not sure that they are ready.”
