Did Eddie Murphy attest in ongoing Diddy sex trafficking trial? Viral rumor debunked

The latest gossip being swirled around by the rumor mill is that Eddie Murphy attended court to testify against Sean Combs. As Diddy's sex trafficking trial continues in court, more fake rumors regarding the whole case keep emerging day by day. The American actor and comedian is known for his roles in Beverly Hills Cop, The Haunted Mansion, the Shrek series, and more films. However, around 12 or 14 years ago, he announced that he is "semi-retired" and has not taken on many roles since.

The rumor about Eddie Murphy testifying at Diddy's trial in court focused on the reason why Murphy left Hollywood. It started with a YouTube video that was posted on a channel called Undisclosed Realms. The video is titled:

"Eddie Murphy SHOCKS Court “I Left Hollywood Because of Diddy!"

The 28:41-minute-long video started with the narrator claiming that everyone was shocked when Murphy entered the courtroom, saying that even the reporters were shocked. This is false information since Eddie Murphy's name was not mentioned in the witness list for Diddy's trial.

According to the video that was posted by Undisclosed Realms, this is what Eddie Murphy said on the stand:

"I've been quiet for decades but after what I saw, I had to step away from Hollywood and I've carried that weight ever since... I left Hollywood because I saw too much and because I couldn't unsee it."

The narrator revealed that Murphy's testimony started all the way back in 2006 when he was getting offers and deals from producers and films, till he got a call for a meeting one day. This referred to the "Diddy parties," which many A-listers were acquainted with.

However, none of this is true because Murphy was not present in court during the trial. As mentioned, his name was not on the witness list, which made it impossible for the actor to testify.

Additionally, if you check the description box of the video, there is a section that mentions:

"Undisclosed REALMS and the YouTube channel are not responsible for the content of any user-generated content, including videos, comments, and posts. Everything said here is for just humorous reasons. TV-MA comedic satire Warning: graphic content. Every observation is a Supposition."

Snopes, a fact-checking website, has also covered the rumors of Murphy being one of the witnesses to testify against Diddy, and they have declared it false. Snopes also stated that after Google, Bing, Yahoo, and DuckDuckGo searches, there were no search results revealing Murphy testifying during the trial.

Eddie Murphy's name was mentioned during Diddy's trial

Although Murphy did not testify at Sean Comb's ongoing sex trafficking trial, his name was briefly mentioned earlier. According to reports from NewsNation, Eddie Murphy's name was mentioned in text messages that were reviewed by the defense team.

In the text messages exchanged between Cassie and Diddy, the former was seen asking the rapper if they could:

"have more than a sexual relationship, pointing to both Willis and Murphy as examples where they successfully co-parented with the mothers of their children."

The rumors about Murphy attending Diddy's ongoing trial and testifying against him were proven false. Since his name was not on the witness list, he is legally not allowed to testify against the rapper. Additionally, the video that started the rumors has a disclaimer claiming that it is just for humorous reasons.
