Since the second week of trial began on May 19, the court has heard testimonies from Cassie Ventura's mother, Regina Ventura, singer Dawn Richard, and Dr. Dawn Hughes, a clinical and forensic psychologist, among others.
Combs is facing federal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation for prostitution, and has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Key highlights of Diddy's day 9 of trial
The ninth day of trial included testimony from the rapper Kid Cudi, whom Cassie briefly dated in 2011. As per CBS News, Kid Cudi recalled the incident where someone had allegedly broken into his home. He told the court that when he reached his house, he saw that the camera was moved, the gifts he bought for his family had been opened, and his dog was locked in the bathroom. He had then called the police and filed a report.
He said that the next month, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at his Porsche while it was parked in his driveway. Although Cudi did not directly accuse Diddy, he noted that Cassie had warned him about Combs being jealous and angry, when he found out about Cassie and Cudi's relationship, and had threatened to blow up Cudi's car.
He also told the court about the confrontation he had with Sean Combs during which he denied any involvement with the Porsche blow-up incident, but later in 2015, Diddy gave a vague apology, as per Vulture.
Mylah Morales, the makeup artist who worked for both Combs and Cassie, also gave her testimony. She told the court of an incident that took place during the Grammy Awards weekend in 2010. She said that Combs had come looking for Cassie, and she was distraught when he left the room Cassie was in. She said that Cassie had a busted lip, knots on her head, and a swollen eye.
Mylah had then taken her home, and a physician friend had taken a look at her injuries and had advised her to go emergency department, but Cassie had denied, as per The Washington Post.
George Kaplan, Diddy's former assistant, recalled instances of Diddy's violent behavior towards his girlfriend, Gina, and said that soon after that incident, he had given his resignation. He also admitted to feeling guilty for not intervening and that witnessing such incidents shook him.
The jury was dismissed in the afternoon yesterday, and the trial will resume on Tuesday. The judge instructed the jurors to avoid any conversations or media coverage regarding the case during the long weekend.
