Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, had his federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial begin last week with Cassie Ventura, his former girlfriend, giving a long and detailed testimony. This week, the second week of the trial, other witnesses, including Diddy's former aide, David James, testified on May 19, 2025.
David James was Diddy's former personal assistant, and in his testimony, he told the court how Diddy had control over Cassie's life, including her career and finances, and because of which Cassie was trapped in the relationship, as per The Washington Post.
Just last week, Cassie gave the court an emotional and detailed testimony of her decade-long toxic relationship with Diddy.
Diddy's former assistant testifies about Diddy's control over Cassie's life
Diddy's trial began last week, and on Monday, May 19, 2025, marked the second week of the trial. Diddy's former assistant, David James, testified in court on Monday.
James told the court that when he first got hired to work for Diddy, an executive had pointed out a picture of Combs on the wall and had said:
''This is Mr. Combs’ kingdom. We’re all here to serve in it."
James then said that he didn't have a lot of interactions with Cassie, however he did speak to her in Miami and when he asked her about why she wouldn't leave the lifestyle, he alleged that she replied saying that she can't get out, as Diddy controls her career, pays her rent, and allowance, as per NBC News.
When James worked for Diddy, he was responsible for organizing articles on him for him to read and to ensure his meals were cooked and prepped properly. He also told the court that he would sometimes work six to seven days a week or sometimes even for 20 hours a day.
Other than James, Kerry Morgan, Cassie's former best friend, and Dawn Richard also testified in the court. Kerry told the court that she witnessed the abuse Cassie went through, as Diddy had hit and dragged Cassie.
Dawn Richard, who was a former member of Danity Kane, told the court she also had witnessed Diddy physically assaulting Cassie on multiple occasions. These testimonies are the prosecution's effort to show the court the pattern of abuse and control Diddy had over Cassie's life. The testimonies are expected to continue this week, and the trial is expected to continue over the coming weeks.
In last week's trial, Cassie, who is the prosecution's star witness, told the court in detail about the mental and physical abuse she endured in her relationship with Diddy. She also explained the freak-offs she was forced into, the drug use, and Diddy's violent behaviour.
