Jim Jones has finally responded to Kanye West’s controversial March 18, 2025, tweet about him. The New York native, whilst appearing on the show Way Up With Angela Yee, seemed to dismiss West’s statements as a grab for attention.
In a video shared by @nojumper on X, Jones quipped:
“Boy got a little screws loose and sh** like that. Obviously, from what the things that he been talking about. I do see that he needs attention. Like he seems to want the most attention in the world.”
One would recall that Jim Jones and West seemed to be best buddies earlier in the year as they hung out in Los Angeles and Japan. The duo linked up in Tokyo in January 2025 and were spotted at the club, listening to West’s upcoming music and checking out clothes. Fast forward to March 18, 2025, Kanye West, whilst calling out his former friends in the music industry, randomly tweeted:
“F*** JIM JONES. IT/ HE’S NOT WORTH AN EXPLANATION.”
Sometime later, the rapper explained his incendiary tweet about his former buddy. West seemed to suggest that Jim Jones had cheated him out of a crypto deal.
Ye tweeted:
"I KNOW THIS GONNA SOUND LIKE SOME TERRENTINO [Tarantino] MOVIE BUT HERE GOES. SOOO JIM JONES GOT PAID 2 MILLION TO INTRODUCE ME TO A GENTLEMAN NAME MR PINK TO DISCUSS MY CRYPTO COIN AND NEVER TOLD ME HE WAS GETTING 2 MILLION AND NEVER CUT ME IN."
West later added:
"I ACTUALLY LOVE JIM JONES, AND I'LL NEVER GO FULL YE."
Jim Jones responded to West’s accusations with a post on Instagram that alluded to the rapper using hard drugs:
"Ye sniffing Ye lol. But keep my name alive, champ. We love KanYE."
Jim Jones appreciates the good times he had with Kanye West on Angela Yee’s show
After describing West as an attention seeker on the Way Up With Angela Yee show, Jones admitted that he cherished the time he and the rapper spent together as friends:
“I appreciate the good times we had. Like we had a time. He’s smart. He’s a genius. He know how to sell some shit. And that’s the one thing that I do credit him for – he’s in this fashion game."
The New York rapper and record executive also praised West’s business acumen:
"He knew what he wanted, and he was the first person to turn that into a commercial dollar that was bigger than anything. I would trade all my fashion flyness to figure out how to turn this sh** into a billion-dollar business,"
He added:
“That’s what he did that nobody figured out how to do. And nobody can’t take that away from that man. He had people coming to stadiums by the thousands. Like, every one of his marketing strategies hit in a multi-million dollar way.”
Jones also addressed the $20 million crypto controversy. He seemed to infer that West was not being truthful about the situation, although he didn’t go into specific details:
“I have all the texts. That’s why I’m laughing like, yo bro, you talking about this $2 million? If I was one of these n-ggas that love the media, I would put the whole text up and show you everything that you lied about. Like, bro, let’s not do this. We only talk through text.”
Although West and Jones have had a public fallout, the duo has expressed mutual respect.
