Robert Irwin was chosen as the global ambassador for The Earthshot Prize in 2024, along with South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha. The Earthshot Prize was introduced by Prince William in 2020, along with biologist and historian David Attenborough. Every year, five winners are selected by the council of the Earthshot Prize, and the members include Prince William and Attenborough.

Robert Irwin followed in his father's (Steve Irwin) footsteps and became a conservationist. He is also a TV presenter, wildlife photographer, and zookeeper. Before attending the Steve Irwin Gala in May, he shared with Us Weekly:

"I think Prince William has been such an amazing person to work with, and there is such an incredible synergy between what he does and who he is and who we are... It's all about conservation. I think it's wonderful that someone so influential — that has such a fantastic platform — is using that to really better our environment. He is a true environmental hero, and so working with him has been a great privilege."

Robert Irwin talks more about the Earthshot Prize and working alongside Prince William

Robert Irwin has always been passionate about the environment. Ever since the Earthshot Prize was introduced, he has always been very supportive and even participated once when it was held in Singapore. He explained more about the purpose of the Earthshot Prize. Irwin said:

"The Earthshot Prize is a beacon of hope for all of us who care about the environment and about our ability to ensure a livable future for ourselves and future generations... Healthy oceans, ecosystems, and species equal a healthy planet, and The Earthshot Prize recognizes the importance of investing in and helping grow solutions that protect these critical resources."

He also shared how nationality does not matter when it comes to protecting the environment; what counts is your action. He continued:

"We've definitely compared a lot of notes in the conservation space... It doesn't matter where you're from — whether internationally in Australia, here in America, wherever you are — we need to prioritize taking care of our natural world. And he’s [Prince William] really at the forefront of that."

Robert had a few more nice things to say about the royal family member. Irwin said:

"And plus, he's just a great guy. When you have a conversation with him, he's the most lovely, intelligent person to talk to and is just so easygoing, so much fun. And I love working with him. He's a really, really, really good guy."

Besides working as a conversationalist, Robert Irwin is also co-hosting an Australian reality television series called I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! with Julia Morris. He was also selected as the first celebrity contestant on Dancing with the Stars Season 34.
