How is American Idol remembering Robin Kaye? Tributes follow after music supervisor's killing

Robin Kaye and her husband, Thomas Deluca, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Monday, July 14, 2025. They were both shot in the head, and their bodies were found in different rooms of the house. The police conducted a welfare check, as the family and friends of the couple had not heard from them, according to TMZ.

Kaye served as the music supervisor on American Idol. As the news of her passing broke out, contestants from American Idol poured their tributes on social media. Caleb Johnson, the winner of season 13, took to his Instagram and wrote:

''In utter shock, horror, and disbelief that you are no longer with us😢 Robin, I’m so grateful to have met you in this lifetime. You always had my back on @americanidol and you always fought for the songs I wanted to sing on the show. RIP ❤️🙏 I literally just talked to you two months ago🥺 what a cruel and wicked world we live in.''

Tributes from American Idol for Robin Kaye

As per IMDb, Kaye worked as a music producer on Idol for 15 seasons, and other than American Idol, she also supervised music for shows like Lip Sync Battle, Miss Universe, Miss USA, and the NAACP Image Awards.

Among the tributes from American Idol contestants, one was from Casey Abrams, a former finalist from the show. He posted a picture with Kaye backstage and wrote:

''RIP Robin. You took care of me on Idol! I’m happy I knew you ❤️🙏Sending love to Kaye Family.''

A spokesperson for American Idol spoke to Variety. They said:

''We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her. Robin will remain in our hearts forever and we share our deepest sympathy with her family and friends during this difficult time.''

As per reports, the police did not find any signs of forced entry into the house, nor was the house ransacked, hence it points away from the possibility of burglary. As per The Guardian, the police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder. The police said that on July 10, Raymond Boodarian allegedly attempted to break into the house of the couple. When they walked in on him, he allegedly shot them and fled from the spot.

Kaye and Deluca were 70 at the time of their death, and both were active in the music scene. Their passing came as a shock to the industry. The police investigation into the double homicide is ongoing.
